Schumer is getting disemboweled on Bluesky.
It is something to behold.
It just isn’t anger over his decision to vote for the CR.
There is a loud chorus calling for him to be primaried, for him to be forced out of his job as minority leader, or for him to resign altogether.
Democrats and those who honor democracy are
furious.
Sober voices like Jen Rubin and Rachel Vindman making certain people get their outrage.
Reading through the threads one has to agree that democrats are in dire need of new leadership, regardless of this particular situation.
I can’t wait to hear what Steve Schmidt has to say tomorrow on The Warning. No doubt there will be veins popping out of his neck.
It’s clear this vote yes/vote no dilemma is a lose-lose for the American people. But I think if I were a Senator I would land on no. I wouldn’t feel good about it. I would be scared. Yet at the end of the day standing up against tyranny would be the only choice. And then I would pray.
I guess the internal polling said the Dems wouldn't be able to get away with blaming the GOP and Trump is more popular than they are willing to admit.
Every other time there was a potential shutdown they insisted retirees would not be paid. It's a lie, but it's a lie they pushed so hard they left themselves no room for when the tide shifted. This is the problem with not having any principles or any sense of foresight.

Lefties in the House are furious at the lefties in the Senate because they caved to Trump on the continuing resolution.
I, too, think the CR is pretty pathetic, if for rather different reasons. I get why they need to do it, but maintaining spending without making DOGE cuts permanent is disappointing.
House members hoped that creating a "Trump shutdown" would help turn the tables on him--a forlorn hope, but a hope. But Democrats in the Senate, being a bit older, slightly wiser, and a lot more vulnerable to losing key seats and watching all power slip away thought better of stopping the CR.

:rotf: Now that right there is funny. I don't care who you are. I saw some "AOC-style common sense" in action once. It involved an a known active electric fence and resulted in a lot of "owies!" and a little bit of smoke coming out of a guy's shows.

Until the Federal Government is brought back within the confines of Article I, Section 8 (and amendments, of course) then it is not a legitimate government for the United States.
