That's basically one of the points of the tariffs:To incentivize making things in the United States.

Also, although they were being ironic, doing what one can to become more self-sufficient isn't a bad idea.

I guarantee he's not raising THAT in HIS backyard. His ability to deny that it's his neglected, low grade weed plants goes out the window if it's found on his property.
