We went to the Bernie Sanders talk today in Iowa City and I was stunned by the turnout
He was going to be speaking at the Englert Theatre today at 11:30 AM.. doors were to open at 10:30 AM.. Hubby and I decided to go earlier because Omaha Steve had said it was overflow in Omaha yesterday. Iowa City was the second city in the tour.
Well as we pulled around a corner 3 blocks from the Englert.. the sidewalks were already full blocks from the theatre.. It was obvious that there was no way I could stand that long (knee surgery) and walk that far.. so hubby dropped me off at the library and got in line and was informed that the theatre was already packed.. he found out there were opening another area for some of the overflow and he thought that it would be a big screen TV or something like that.. well he a few hundred others stood around and Bernie came in and gave his speech in person again to the overflow .
Now we never voted for Bernie.. but I have to give him creds for doing that speech all over again..
But all I can say with the turnout for him was huge for Iowa City.. I feel the earth moving

Uh huh. 🙄🙄🙄

Bernie Sanders needs some new material for him to "move the earth". His thinking hasn't evolved in years, and he's selling the same shtick that people have rebutted over and over again.

For those who are unaware. Iowa City is about as liberal as Chicago or other major liberal cities. So not surprised he got a strong turn out there.

I was just about to post something similar 😄

Iowa City is akin to Madison, Wisconsin South, or Austin, Texas North. Just as crazy and unhinged and a truly awful college town.

Lots of 'young skulls full of mush' in those areas, which probably doesn't help.

From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Englert_Theatre :
Englert Theatre in Iowa City, Iowa, is a renovated vaudeville-era playhouse now serving as a community arts center and 725-seat performance venue. It is owned and operated year around by Englert Civic Theatre, a non-profit art organization. ...
So, the seating capacity of that theater is about half the seating capacity of a medium sized city (~60,000) high school gymnasium (specifically I checked my high school's). At what point does omitting relevant context - "Iowa City is about as liberal as Chicago or other major liberal cities" - and relevant facts such as the limited seating capacity constitute lying-by-omission?

On Blue vs. Red maps of California counties, my original home county is shown as light blue. It's very rural, with lots of farmers, who tend to be conservative, but UC Davis is in the county, a Blue blot outnumbering the more sensible farmers and businesspeople (the population of Davis is ~65K, that of the county seat, nearby Woodland, is ~61K).

In reality, it doesn’t matter how many people showed up. He’s still a loser a communist socialist who’s been living off the government all his life because he’s a useless burden on society. He needs to dry up and blow away.

I do find his "Tour" interesting.
Nebraska, Iowa.
Is he testing the heartland for another Presidential run which starts less than 3 years from now?

He'd be in his upper 80s, so it's unlikely he'll be running for POTUS in 2028.

Did you ask about his health? Is he still dying? ::)

He's just grifting for retirement funds. For a commie he sure likes to accumulate wealth like a capitalist.
Also note 2016 proved that he is less popular than Hillary.

Being a good socialist leader, and champion of the working man, he could probably sell off a house, or two to cover his retirement.

He might have been describing what happens to a toilet after one too many mini-tacos.

He was in Omaha to start this "Fight The Oligarchy" thing. Yeah they had some people show up. I wondered though if he is putting Warren Buffett into the same category as Donald Trump. The difference is that Uncle warren has been a Democratic supporter all of his life unlike the Donald.
