Title: Sarah Palin Can Be Your Own Personal Barbie

Wanting to stay on the PDS bandwagon, AlterNet never disappoints - by writing a sexist article and claming it isnt sexist in the first few sentences. Way to go.

Sarah Palin Can Be Your Own Personal Barbie

By Suzi Parker, AlterNet. Posted September 13, 2008.

It's not about sexism, it's about Barbie. That's why a lot of women are gaga for Sarah Palin.

It's not about sexism, stupid. It's about Barbie.

That's why a lot of women are gaga for Sarah Palin.

Women closing in on the big four-O -- the McCain-Palin target demographic for voters -- grew up role-playing endlessly with Barbie. They spent hours dressing dolls in sexy lingerie, stewardess uniforms, business suits and evening attire while pretending their Barbie was a CEO, a pilot or even -- gasp -- president.

Sarah, as she's called by her female fans, is a 21st century walking, talking, breathing brunette Barbie. Women long to be her friend and have her as a confidante -- the very role Barbie played during childhood. Naturally, women won't admit that Sarah is like Barbie because to do so seems unsupportively shallow and well, sexist, toward the first woman on a Republican presidential ticket.

But Sarah has lived a life very similar to Barbie's.

B.S.!  :bird:

I'm approaching 40 and I think I stopped playing with Barbie and being fascinated with all things "Barbie" at about age 6. Thank God we had a mother who encouraged us to play with whatever toys interested us. My mother would scold family members who gave us "gender specific" gifts and tell them not to feel offended if we discarded them to go pick up something else. She never forced baby dolls and "mommy" toys on me. Yes, I loved dolls and was a girly-girl but I also had my free spirited tomboy moments. I even had a BMX bike just like my brother's.

That is the most sexist, idiotic article. They are REALLY scraping the bottom of the barrel to slam Sarah aren't they? Don't they read the news? Sarah is far from a Barbie. Barbie never had a rifle or dead animals or was a commerical fisherman with Ken. If they had made a Caribou Barbie, I would have gotten one!   :lmao:
