Two business people I heard yesterday expressing apprehension over the coming administration:
1. A business woman I know was talking with a friend at a Mexican buffet restaurant where I was also getting my lunch. The business woman was explaining that she was manufacturing something (didn't hear what) in Mexico, but because of how "wrong the election went," and with anticipated tariffs on everything from Mexico, they don't know what the future of that product line will be....

2. I attended the city council meeting last night, and a young man (who had said on FB that he would be voting for Trump) was presenting a grant proposal for a recycling business he wanted to start and wanted the city's endorsement of his proposal. Because the proposal is due Thursday into the federal agency, the council in general said they wouldn't have time to review it, so suggested he wait unitl the call for proposals next year. There was one council member (pretty sure he's a Trumper) who said he's be available anytime before the deadline on Thursday to review it, but the mayor (sure she's a Trumper) inquired if there would be the grant program next year, to which the young man shrugged his shoulders and said, "Don't know with the Trump administration." All three, being Trumpers, just looked at each other with awkward grins on their faces....It appeared to me to be a tacit admission that they recognized an uncertain future ahead (and an attempt to take advantage of the current, more friendly environment for small businesses).

Love how people who think the tariffs are so horrible never bring up the possibility of...........

producing their products in the US.  Wild idea, ain't it?  Not an easy, immediate solution, but one that I would sure be looking at if I were in such a business position.

Additionally, there is no requirement of the American people to buy products from Mexico, China, et al.

Personally willing to pay a premium on goods manufactured in the U.S. only rather than that cheap garbage crafted elsewhere.

It used to be that companies were proud to label their products made in the USA. But apparently Americans no longer want those kind of jobs making things. It’s pretty sad. We have all these people going to college spending $10,000 or more for a degree that is essentially useless while there are plenty of good paying jobs such as electricians, plumbers, welders, etc. that remain un filled.

As for this dummies bouncy, it’s pretty creative, but just another bushel basket of bullshit. :thatsright:

Of course the second character in the DUmmie's tale has a moonbat-friendly business to present.  Paper is really the only thing successfully recyclable, and the paper mills take care of that on their own.  They know what they need and they do not want random shit from randos.  Plastic is all but impossible.  The fictional character's grant should be scrutinized.

Steel is most recycled metal because of cars and the auto dismantlers that have been in business for decades. Large appliances are also very easily and profitably recycled. Some materials makes economic sense to recycle like paper, cardboard, steel, cooper but plastics are not one of the materials that really make sense.

Both of the DUmbass's fables are not true. Especially the woman that has a mexico manufacturer of goods and the pro Trump recycler scammer. Recycling, except for the above items, usually costs much more than just putting it in a landfill.... which most plastics go to anyway.... or the ocean from southeast pacific nations like china and the Philippines.

The panacea-scams of bird-choppers, bird-fryers, and EVs are so obvious that they obscure the scams of plastics recycling and of blame-America-firsters wrt plastics in the oceans.

They don't understand how tariffs are used, and they don't care about American jobs.  After the Washington Post didn't endorse Harris they were bragging about cancelling their Amazon accounts and signing up with Chinese companies like Alibaba and Temu.  They look down their noses at anyone driving an American car.  They would be overjoyed if every American was put out of work by an illegal alien.  And they can't grasp the concept that tariffs are used to try to either balance trade or to influence foreign governments.  They also don't seem to realize that the majority of the tariffs that Trump introduced were left in place by Biden because they were effective.  Their understanding of foreign trade boils down to "America bad.  All other countries good.".

If the DUmmies don't like tariffs then they can just boycott all products with tariffs. DUmmie boycotts have always worked so well in the past. :hyper:
