Don't let relatives gaslight you, re: not speaking to Trump voters

Like many here, I just can't believe Trump won. And I just don't know how to approach the people I know who voted for Trump. My wife won't speak to her two nieces because they voted for him, she was very close to both of them.

Your feelings are valid, it's a 2 way street, don't allow other family members to gaslight you about your feelings. You aren't "dividing the family..." You have every right to feel how you feel. With Christmas next week, there's going to be pressures and claims of unfairness, don't allow it.

I simply cannot reconcile voting for Trump with being a good and decent person. I cannot find an excuse yet and won't for some time. Maybe I will get there, maybe I won't, but I need to be allowed to go through my own process on it. I do not need to be made to feel guilty. It's not my fault that people revealed their true character, (or lack of) with their vote.

Everyone's situation is different. But I see a ton of gaslighting going on right now with people making it out like people bitter over the loss of our democracy are being petty and unreasonable. This isn't politics, this is morals and ethics. Right or wrong, a vote for Trump seems like a personal choice to hurt people. Choices have consequences. Don't let people diminish you and what has happened to our nation.

And it is a 2 way street. There are Trump voters feeling slighted by their relatives and friends no longer speaking to them. Well, what have they done to reach out and mend fences?

So many of these long stupid posts. Me voting for Trump was to hurt people? Go F yourself. 🙄

This is Johny2X2X, who continually gaslit the DUmp with merry tales of a glowing and growing economy.

 :jerkit:-ing self-justification.

Let's put this "logic" on an open "table": Ignore 10 or 20 or 50 years of experience knowing and seeing parent/sibling/cousin/friend _______, (s)he is horrible because (s)he voted for Trump!!!111

Bomb threats, at least one tabulation breakdown, actual votor intimidation in Michigan and Florida. That is all before actual tampering. They had source code for the electronic voting machines. All projection on their part in 2020. And that is before we consider the lopsided media coverage and that food prices were artificialy high. A four pound bag of sugar is now $1.71 after being nearly $3 until after the election.

Lots of stupidity here  :thatsright:

We won because we had the source code to the voting machines. :mental:

Part of the reason we won was because of not allowing ballot box stuffing like the last election.

There is no 'loss of our democracy'. What there is, is loss of democratic party control of our republic.

And those who are bitter over it, are the textbook definition of petty and unreasonable.

You broke their code.  Democracy always means their control.  Threats to, loss of, ect.  That's why Trump is such a "threat to Democracy".

PennRalphie keeps poking at the DUmmies.  I can't believe he hasn't got the ban hammer yet.

9. I'm different from most of you.

My family was together at Thanksgiving and it will be the same on Christmas.

We did not talk politics on Thanksgiving. There are no plans to talk politics on Christmas. And the Steelers are playing the Chiefs, so there’s that.

None of my Republican family members disowned or belittled me when Obama won. Or when Biden won.

Of course, you do you. My family is far, far more important to me than politics. Plus our family is generally a pretty happy group. We don’t go into any situation angry.

I hope those of you who have disowned family because of politics have a wonderful Holiday season.

Nooo!!!!!!  All of your friends, family, acquaintances, neighbors, coworkers and any other person you deal with in real life are superficial and should be cast aside if their politics don't align completely with DU's hive mind.  Embrace your internet family.  Reject your actual flesh and blood.  But don't worry.  DU is just a discussion board.  It's not like a cult or anything.  Just align your beliefs and outlook on life with the other posters and everything will be alright.

But then he really steps into the firing line.

59. And the Dems will allow that

Right? You have that little confidence in the Democrat politicians you elected. They’re going to sit back and allow all of that to happen. Senator Fetterman is going to allow social security to be ended. Really? Do you really believe that?

He used the dreaded "Democrat" rather than "Democratic".  Of course, the DUmmies leap into action. :argh:

128. Not really

Democrat, instead of Democratic is what Republikkans like Lindsay Graham and Ted Cruz use for the Democratic Party
Use Republiukkan framing, people have the right to be suspicious

The biggest sin you can commit on DU.  The worst insult imaginable.  The fact that almost no one outside of places like DU even knows it's supposedly derogatory is immaterial.  They are positive that anyone who misuses the word "Democrat" is an evil MAGA, Nazi, racist, sexist, etc.  I can't help but chuckle every time the topic comes up.
