In response to United Health Care CEO misfortune let me tell you a true story
In 1987 at the age of 29, I came down with salivary gland cancer. Although it was tough and expensive, it was doable and I was in remission. Fast forward to 1993 and it came back with a vengance and metastasized. Because it was deemed a "pre-exisiting" condition, the insurance company (Blue Cross) denied coverage. I amassed 197K in medical bills and filed for brankruptcies more than the allowable amount of times in the specified period. Because, I did that the doctors were forced to continue with treatment and my life was saved. Because of that, I was charged with abuse of the US Bankruptcy laws and Contempt of the Federal Judicial Process. I pled guilty to contempt of court and a violation of the Judges order to cease filing. I spent 13 months in a Federal prison, I am now a felon and did probabtion for 3 years. In addition, we lost everything we had. But I also negotiated in court that the bill be reduced to 11K. Three lessons I got out of this: 1) everyone should be on a single payer universal health care like I had in Europe. 2) in the US you either pay with time or money 3) **** insurance companies and the greedy assholes that run them.

Are you sure that's not the other way around, it was read on the air, then claimed by gopiscrap?  We know plagiarism is a popular Democrat pastime.

As I pointed out in another thread, in Canuckistan and the UK, government "healthcare" delays for diagnostic tests, shortages of diagnostic equipment (e.g. MRI and PET), and delays in treatments sometimes kill patients. The costs to patients of this "healthcare" didn't magically disappear, it just got included in local and national taxes. There's a treason "healthcare tourism" has long been a thing in the UK, and some Canuckistanis come to the US where delays are measured in days rather than months.

I won't go into details, but a family member with a chronic condition recently, within two weeks, saw their doctor for a scheduled ("routine" in the context of their condition) visit, did a blood test, got some very concerning results, saw the doctor on an urgent basis, and got the relevant prescription med. No country's healthcare system is without problems, but the grass is NOT greener on the government-healthcare side of the fence.
