My daughter in Ohio is having a hard time with the results of this election
She’s deep in MAGA country. She got involved this year, GOTV for Sherrod Brown, introduced her daughters to political activism
As of right now, she can’t even look at her neighbors. She is desperately looking for another church (I am not religious, she picked that up on her own) using the word “deconstructing” which is an extremely painful process for religious folk. She wants nothing to do with anyone who voted for Trump. She is so hurt that friends and neighbors did not care about her rights or her daughter’s rights. That MAGA is so gleefully looking to see “deportations”. She will not try for another child because she has a history of miscarriages. She wants to move out of Ohio, but her whole life is there, and her kids are right at the age moving would be very upsetting.
Jesus she is in pain. Betrayed by people she thought were good, decent people, only to discover how much joy they get from the suffering of others. Like, the outsides look good, but the insides are full of rot and unresolved trauma they project only others. I don’t **** with MAGA, but I’m also in Seattle where they are easy to avoid.
She didn’t understand the scope of how shitty these people are.
I just ache for her, and all the other blue dots. You guys are my hero’s right now. Thank you for everything.

I blame you for making your daughter into total whack job.

So much stupid drama. Ohio people are the salt of the earth. Some DUmmies are advising her daughter to move to IL, where she'll be taxed to death. Fine. Get out of Ohio and stop stinking it up for the family I have left there.

I knew Democrat philosophy was damaging the mental health of our country but until the Trump victory, I never imagined the extent.
-
OH NO! Anyway, moving would make it harder for the roundup so stay right where you are.

Since a "mainline Protestant" church is not likely to have many, if any, Trump fans, and Catholic churches tend to have very openly Pro-Life people, I'm going to guess that ismnotwasm's daughter somehow wandered into an Evangelical church without realizing many Evangelicals are Trump voters, agreeing with most of his policies. As facially odd as this seems to me, at the same time, most Evangelical churches violate Prog stereotypes and do not talk specifically political topics. I'm guessing Ohio-daughter was in an Evangelical church whose sermons and such focused on spiritual life and growth rather than political figures who will be off the national political scene in less than a decade.

In my earlier half of life, I was a semi-regular church-goer (the Baptist flavor). And in all of my time, I only ever heard a political statement from one Pastor, ever. It was a short blip in the sermon at the end, and not even really part of the sermon. Apparently the IRS was playing games with the church and he was asking for support. Regardless, I thought it was inappropriate to speak of it at the time he did. Those topics are for discussion in meetings, not Sunday sermon, and most other attendees appears a little set back by the comment due to it's placement. The "incident" wasn't even discussed afterwords.
It is very rare for church members to ever bring up politics, even at extra curricular events as it is a frowned upon topic, and would be considered borderline blasphemy to bring such a topic into the church. It is not why we go there. It is, in fact, one of the topics we purposefully leave behind so that church services can be taken in for the intended purpose, free from poisonous influences that are unrelated to the worship of God.

Dear DUmbass DUche,
Send me her address and my nonprofit foundation will rush ship her a single edged razor blade and explicit instructions to "make it count."

We attend a fundamental Baptist church. The pastor doesn't speak politics from the pulpit and the congregation doesn't bring politics up in general conversation but they are overwhelming pro 2nd amendment, pro-life and will admit to supporting Trump because the alternatives are so horrible.

I agree. My dad was a Baptist pastor. The only time he talked politics was with me or other friends/family members away from the church. The nearest thing to politics that he said when he was behind the pulpit was to remind people to vote during the announcements, but he never told them how to vote.

::) I can't see any indication that Melissa (OP) was ever religious. She is, however, batshit crazy even for a dummie from my home state.

I'm guessing she's the sort who says crap like that, then has the gall to view herself and call herself an "Antiracist" hero whom Dr. King would be proud of.

For all the depressed leftist lezbos after POTUS Trump kicked Kumallah's ass might I suggest that you take Pfizer's new drug: TRICOXAGAIN.
TRICOXAGAIN works 100% of the time 7 out of ten times.
