Is anyone besides me having trouble just getting up and caring

about the normal things we have to do in our lives? Everything feels like arranging deckchairs on the Titanic. I have loved following politics all my life and now it's too painful, but I think remaining informed is a responsibility. I try to imagine how we will turn this around but I can't imagine any such scenario. I won't even list the things I fear here, they are too horrible to conceive of.

How do we find joy again? how do we care about making art, music, all our old goals and aspirations?
How do we find constructive and effective ways to resist? How do we protect our freedoms, our leaders, our institutions, liberal media? How do we organize?

So far I'm subscribing to The Guardian and following Mark Elias--haven't read yet his ideas but I know he has some. We have to do much more than figure out what might have solved the last election. It will be different now.

Well, your screen name IS MadameButterfly. Why not do what she did? (https://www.democraticunderground.com/100219714127)

If seppuku isn't your thing, you still have options. One would be to suck-start a shotgun. Another would be to take a long walk on the roof of a tall building. Yet another would be to listen to NPR while your car is running in your closed garage.

If your entire life is politics, I am not sure you have any other choice.

of peace. As soon as my eyes open, I feel that gut punch of knowing that we are careening off of a cliff and that no one is going to stop it or even slow us. They are all in on it.

So, we're all ****ed and there is nothing to be done but try and ride it out.

I have no interest in anything and can't trust most people in the town I live in. They voted for this, so when they are just as ****ed as my family, I will laugh at their pain, because they chose it, the went in, eyes open and voted for corruption and death.

I play video games during the day, so that I can spend at least a little time in a world where evil can be defeated rather than elevated.

At least in 2016, I could pretend that they weren't just racist assholes, but that they were fooled. Now? Well, that illusion is gone.

Maybe you guys could do like a DUmmy's Gate type thing, where instead of matching nikes, you all put on your ***** hats and drift off to eternal rest.

They're so confusing (confused) over there.  Half the posts I read say we conservatives went in and voted with our eyes wide open KNOWING what this was going to do to the country, and the other half of the posts say we conservatives are so stupid we have NO IDEA what we voted for ...

I wonder how old Bettie is.  Is this a retired person?  If not, is this a person who works nights?  Or is this some ne'er do well who is taking our hard earned money like so many of them because they won't work, but they can play video games all day.

THIS is what they fear.  Getting caught out in their lies of disability or other government programs they're sucking off of, and being removed from the rolls by DOGE!

Good Lord, what fragile critters. When I woke up the day after Election Day in 1992, 1996, 2008, 2012, and 2020, I ... went on with my life. I knew Clinton, Obama, and Biden would be awful, harmful, Presidents, but no drama, no weeping, wailing, or teeth-gnashing, I'm boringly normal.

I don’t understand why or what they want to resist. Prosperity, security, safety in their homes and communities.

They are really off their rocker

During this amazing, perfect Biden economy, too. The economy won't tank until Jan 20.

This is funny to me, and a stark contrast.

During the last 4 years, while biden (obozo) and company have been destroying America, did we on the right fall apart?

NO.

We went on living our best lives in spite of it.

DUmmies on the other hand...outwardly manifest the little children they are inside.
