Title: DU early shutdown

Democratic Underground is currently open to registered members only

At 9PM ET on Monday, March 25, we began a major required software update. (This was a behind-the-scenes update which does not affect the DU user interface.) The update has been completed, but we are now performing optimizations which could not be dealt with in a test environment. In order to complete these optimizations we need to reduce traffic to our servers. Earlier, we restricted access to registered members only. However, we need to reduce traffic even further, so at this time only Star Members can fully access the site.

If you are a Star Member and you are seeing this message, you can sign into your account here in order to access the site as normal. If you are already a registered member and would like to become a Star Member, please sign in to your account and then visit this page. If you are not a registered member and would like to become a Star Member, please visit this page.

We apologize for the inconvenience during this time. This situation is temporary, but could continue for anywhere from a few hours to a few days. We hope to have everything completed and back to normal sooner rather than later.

Earlier than normal. Maybe it’s a quick fix, or maybe it’s this way through the election. We’ll see. Those who can see here will try and fill in the gaps as time permits.

And so, it begins. They are in a panic over there.

Right now several are freaking out because they think their site is being attacked. The site is running exceptionally slow. I mean really, really slow. Not worth trying to bring things over.

Well, maybe Admin actions are messing with user actions. Or maybe their semi-tested "upgrade", ummmmm, didn't turn out well. Or both.

We are aware of this and we're working on it

Currently it seems to be high traffic load, we’re doing what we can to keep the site online. This will involve switching to registered members and/or Star Members only until things are under control. I’ll have an update a little later.

Excuses, excuses.

Also claiming the error message was from March, not now, and he just didn’t change the date and some of the wording.

Response time is just fine now. I'm not logged in. Just lurking. I haven't had a mole in years.

ETA: A few minutes later, I'm now locked out as a non-member.

Update: It's back now. EarlG must have been just practicing for Tuesday.

Instead of a picture with Trump in a limo like 2016, this year it can be Trump in the garbage truck.

I’m pretty sure they’re freaking out. The new jobs numbers are only 12,000 vs the 113,000 they were expecting.

I can see the posts over there now: “those lying bastards are skewing the jobs numbers to tank Kamala!!!”

What will be interesting is if they keep it locked down through the election and don’t allow their members to buy into the exclusive club that can vent their anger and pain.

How many who can’t get in will simply go crazy vs how many will choose to end their pain alone?

It seems odd to me that you can still read post titles until you get the star members only page.

It's been a while since DU has locked out people in the past due to "system issues" but I don't remember being able to see post titles in past lockdowns.

At least we can still see what they're bitching about, just not get any details.

There is absolutely nothing new going on. They simply know they're going to lose, and liberals have an extra stage of grief that others don't: crying like little bitches. Shutting down helps them do that.

What's always been absent from DU are posts about how this stupid non-black woman intends to do anything about anything other than making queer illegals happy and comfortable ("Mira mamá! Kamala me dio una vagina gratis!)

Here’s what’s going on:  Skinner (former owner and founder of DU) actually has an inside track to the DNC. For real.

Skinner has been told what the internal polls show and it’s not good. Skinner has told Earl what’s fixing to happen so he can prepare the site. Earl has locked it down now so he can say they’ve had technical issues.

I've honestly got no idea what's gonna happen next week, but I do know that Harris isn't campaigning like someone who's winning.

None of the media is on a "we are winning" footing. It's sort of pathetic to watch, if you think about it: in 2001 or so, certainly post 9/11, you only saw "Bush=Hitler" on DU and Kos. Now not only is that in the mainstream, but they think it's their silver bullet. How did that come about? Were they all sitting in the bathhouse, taking turns fellating each other, when someone said, "Hey, look. If it's getting desperate, we just say, "Psst: Trump is Hitler. Pass it on."

I cannot WAIT to see what they do after the election.

In a sane world, this would be an idiots bet... no way that imbecile could ever beat Trump or anyone else. But we have democrats...  and those little commies will vote for whoever Kim Jong.. err, I mean, the DNC tells them to. There is no way to predict if they will be able to cheat enough to do it again. And yes, I 100% believe that the last election was tampered with in key districts for that very purpose.

I even read reports that Trump actually won California in '20...but can't outcheat the cheaters..

I agree completely. And I don't consider "investigating and proving no fraud existed" to consist of just asking the people who were running things if they did anything hinky. The fact that the polls are so close even after the Dems and their shills in the media and Hollywood have demonized Trump and his supporters and idolized his opponents for 10+ years, to me, is a sign of how poorly most of America feel about the Dems.
