The electoral college is 100% PURE BULLSHIT!
The electoral college should be ruled unconstitutional. it is literally IN the Constitution, so it can't be unconstitutional, dipshit
In a democracy, every vote is supposed to count equally, right? We do not live in a democracy, DUmmy.
In our system we have millions of disenfranchised voters every national election.
If you live in a state that votes for the Dem, every single vote over 50% is a lost vote, a wasted vote, a disenfranchised voter.
I live in Vermont. I am disenfranchised.
This is pure bullshit.
It's an archaic system that was created a long time ago for some stupid reasons that don't apply to today's world at all. They apply more than ever, asshole.
It completely goes against our democracy, and democratic principles in general.
I know most people here already know this and agree.
But you know what, if we could fix that this one thing, it would be huge. The president would actually by chosen by the majority vote in our country. Isn't that how it's supposed to be in a democracy?
In all likelihood, Kamala will win the popular vote. We are all sweating bullets right now because of the electoral college.
I can't believe there hasn't been a serious effort to get rid of this bullcrap.
What could be simpler?
one person. one vote. = democracy.
anything else is BULLSHIT.
The founding fathers were absolutely prescient, and fully anticipated DUmmies... (https://www.democraticunderground.com/100219623908)
Everyone knows (including the DUmmies) that the whole point of the electoral college is so that people like this:

Are not drowned out by people like this:

The writers of the US Constitution designed the Electoral College and the US Senate to hinder populous states' ability to exploit and oppress less populous states. DU-Denizens' and many Dems' howling and railing against the composition of the Senate and against the Electoral College demonstrate the Constitution writers' wisdom and prescience.
The Electoral College forces Presidential candidates the pay attention to the concerns of states Dems and the MSM regard as Flyover Country. Dem candidates - the ones so-inclined - cannot focus their efforts on just the 5 or 10 largest US cities.

It isn't even a state issue: states are red, but big cities are generally blue. So what liberals really want is for NYC, LA, San Fran, Seattle, and Chicago weirdos and freaks to decide everything for everyone. I have no doubt that every DUmmy wants a covid booster in every arm and a penis in every rectum, but 99% of the geographic area of the US begs to differ.

I see what you did there. :hi5:

I for one would love to see the entire Country use the Congressional district method like Maine and Nebraska, the demoRats would never win another office.

13. I remember my outrage when I first learned about the EC

But I have grown up a bit since that time.
If you’ll notice, there are two small holes in your logic: Maine and Nebraska.
If they can both allow some EVs to go to the non-winner of their states, so could others.
Perhaps that’s where our energies should be directed. Get it passed in enough Red states to where the EC more closely tracks the popular vote. Easier said than done - but so are the other options.
Also, will you still be complaining when FL swings Blue again?

There is a quite good chance that the DUchebag DUmmys are going to hate the popular vote too.

Well garybeck no one really cares what you think. :bird: :loser: :thatsright:

7. We're not one country
For all intents, we are 50 separate countries who have agreed to cooperate on some things at the federal level. It’s working exactly as designed.
Your one vote in Vermont is worth as much as another vote in Vermont. Mine is Florida is equal to every other vote in Florida.
Why should the smaller states give up what little leverage they have? I’ve read/heard answers to that question, but none are going to happen, and I can’t say I blame the smaller states.
Ouch! That could cause many primitive convulsions.

Yeppers, it's entirely possible that DU-Denizens will have to shift their hatred from the Electoral College to tens of millions of people who were the majority who voted for Trump.

I've seen several posts over there talking about the EC and all it does is show just how desperate they are getting. They keep trying to bouy each other up, but the wire in the tires is showing. They're wearing thin.

They are most definitely doing a lot of bargaining right now. They’re trying anyway they can to convince themselves that Kamala has this in the bag. But this election is not Willie Brown, and it is not in the bag.
