I put this on my Facebook page...
Another school shooting that took the lives of two Teachers who will not be going home to their families, celebrate birthdays or holidays, or be spouses, or parents to their children EVER AGAIN!.
Two children who will NEVER play sports, sing in a choir, have sleepovers with friends, have adventures, let alone graduate High School EVER AGAIN!!
IT DOES NOT HAVE TO BE THIS WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am sick and tired of Thoughts & Prayers as a solution to innocents being gunned down in their schools, churches, stores, movie theaters, concert gatherings, Bowling Alleys, workplaces, etc.
I am sick & tired of politicians saying ...."Let the parents grieve! This IS NOT the time to talk about this!" (thus brushing aside legislation that could ease a lot of this and still be for the 2nd Amendment.)
I am sick & tired of MENTAL ILLNESS being the reason why these mass shootings keep occurring, yet nothing is being done to fund programs aimed towards finding a solution.
I will be very frank here. The AR-15 is the weapon of choice for much of the mass shootings reported on in the United States. It is a Civilian version of a Military Grade killing machine designed to kill as many of the enemy(human beings) in the shortest amount of time, with the firepower to cause the most horrific amount of damage to soft tissue and organs as possible. Does one need an AR-15 to hunt Buffalo, Deer, or Moose with? Does one need such a weapon to defend themselves with?
As a Grandmother, my heart weeps. We send our children off to school to learn, to grow intellectually, to develop into adults who will run this country long after we are gone. NOT to be gunned down in the early stages of their lives and of their development!

You rebel! :whatever: What a whack job.

1. Has the 14YO's murder weapon been identified yet?
2. IRL, handguns are used in most mass shootings, because they are more easily concealed and less cumbersome than a long gun.

The initial rumor was he used a shotgun.. that said, a photo I saw shows an AR type rifle on the floor but the pic was from quite a ways away so I don't know for sure.

Another ignorant fool who thinks the 2nd amendment has anything to do with "hunting". :banghead:

I'm sick and tired of agenda driven folks taking advantage of emotional situations to drive said agendas.
I'm sick and tired of fools demanding for action driven by those emotional situations instead of calming down and looking for logical actions to take.
I'm sick and tired of demanding almighty government provide all the answers. How many billions are donated to political campaigns by select individuals and some organized groups (unions)? How many mental health facilities and programs could those billions bankroll? Yell at those billionaires. I'd bet the tax write offs would be even better than what the "donations" earn them.

huh, Kat? You must have it set to private, don't see it:

Is that some sort of cosplay convention?

Well if the FBI had kept a better watch on this kid and maybe took action on him before the shooting this wouldn't even be an issue. I mean they knew the kid popped up on their radar a year ago. I think that is more than enough time to at least have something done by the FBI.

The only way the FBI would have been interested in keeping a better watch on this kid is if he attended a school board meeting or maybe a Latin mass. :censored:

Or participated in a Pro-Life protest.

Deadliest school shooting was V Tech. He had 9mm and 22 pistols. Killed 32, wounded 17.

It's not a good AR-15 thread until someone brings up how amazingly destructive a .223 Remington round is:

14. Does anyone know what a Buffalo, Deer or Moose looks like after you obliterate it with an AR-15

Nothing you could eat. Anyone who thinks those killing machines are good for hunting doesn't know what hunting is. I need the meat, not red mist in the wind.
They've up'ed their game from vaporizing feral hogs. Now a single .223 bullet can also turn a buffalo, deer or a moose into nothing but "red mist in the wind". Or maybe that only happens if an AR-15 is utilized to deliver the bullet, because those rifles have superpowers and are magic and stuff.

So the fbi went to see the kid but nothing was done. There was no follow up or anything done to stop him from getting a gun.

Maybe the kid's bedroom had a slight slope to it or there was a wheelchair ramp outside. :(

So we're not counting Wounded Knee, then? :devious:

Damn that ADA!!! :argh:

You would’ve thought that if the FBI went there, they would’ve asked if there were guns in the house and if they were secure from the kid. The FBI agents should be fired for not doing a proper job. It seems in more than one of these the FBI investigated and did nothing disaster resulted.

:rotf: ! From her FB thread:
Kathleen Castrovinci
______ ______ The background is the Sci-Fi convention I attended, thus the dressing up. But thank you. I also cropped it.
The outfit looks more steampunk than sci-fi to me, but I'm not much into that literary world.

I put a useless rant on facebook too. Naturally, it's pretty much the polar opposite of her useless rant so I've effectively nullified her useless position in the realm of Facebooklandia. Isn't that how the Facebooklandia rant game works?

The father bought the gun the kid used several months after the FBI visit.

Any other father would have had reservations about making such a purchase/gift, given that he was aware of the kid making "school shooting" threats specifically.

The father is being charged with involuntary manslaughter. Speaking abstractly, know something is dangerous and doing nothing about it entails, at least, civil liability (e.g. a known-dead tree falling on a car or house). In this case, the father knowing his son may have made deadly threats (the father apparently did not believe his son had done so, however) which the son carried out may cross the line into criminal liability. That is why he is being charged. How that would play out is outside of my "pay grade" (I work in tech) and there may be myriad devils in the details.
BTW, the local authorities (police/sheriff? school admins? all of the above? not sure) may not be entirely off the hook, as the FBI did advise that they keep an eye on the kid.
