appearances by mccain and obama
mccain goes first . . . .
-
Streaming Live Feed at work..When do the questions start?
-
1. Government doesn't have to be in charge of everything (or foot the bill), sometimes the private sector can do a good job if not better.
+1
-
Obama refused to do town hall meetings... :fuelfire:
-
mccain's defense of small town mayors was a bit lame, but that isn't the point. the point is that she is currently the sitting governor of a state. but no one seems to want to talk about that. I find that peculiar.
-
he did much better with volunteerism, and how gov't can't do everything for everyone. he left how how no one should want government to do everything for you, because when government pays the bills, government calls the shots and makes the decisions. and THAT is a loss of individual liberty, even if it is for allegedly "compassionate" or "benevolent" reasons.
a loss of liberty is a loss of liberty.

Damn straight america is better..what is she getting at? :bird:

I find the editor of time to be much more condescending and ridiculous. but I viewed him with bottomless contempt before this show came on.

what a waste of time.
Although I think McCain did well

Barrack's turn and the crowd goes wild :whatever:

Barrack's turn and the crowd goes wild :whatever:
of course. break out the no-doz. this guy can't say "good morning" without it taking 20 minutes and making a half dozen qualifications and exceptions to the relative goodness of the morning.
-
this is the cheapest, vilest kind of monday morning quarterbacking. it's easy to say what he would have done after 9/11 if he was president SEVEN YEARS AFTER THE FACT. hell, he would have curled up in the corner and sobbed.

... after he had developed a "bold energy plan." ::)
-
oh, and the proper course of action after 9/11 is almost precisely the same as the vague outlines that exist of his smattering of generalized policy ideas. funny how that worked out, huh?
-
LOL! one of the questioners just challenged him for specifics, and immediately after saying, "no what would you do, but HOW would you do it", she said, "we have under a minute left".
and then he said nothing at all for 48 seconds.
-
I notice the level of inquisitiveness has changed. No..."But is america better than other countries....???" that was asked 3 times of McCain. Barrack said "America is the greatest country in the world" but no clarification needed by him.
-
Not everyone is eligible for the United Negro Fund, Barrack. I currently have no kids, my taxes pay for elementary, middle and highschool. Why should I foot the bill for college too? I paid for my education and worked a full time job to make ends meet. Why should other's get a free pass...it CAN BE DONE with hard work and determination.
-
now here is a sunburst. "when a hurricane like katrina strikes, we need a FEMA that works." :whatever: I had forgotten how shallow this guy really is.
-
Obama gives props to Bush on AIDS. Ya heard him say it, DU.
-
now he is mobilizing seniors. ah, but the key is to have an inspiring president. it always comes back to that with him, doesn't it? "How will all this work, senator obama"? "I will inspire it forth."
-
Obama gives props to Bush on AIDS. Ya heard him say it, DU.
I forget how many billions he budgeted for AIDS research every year, and foreign assistance for AIDS in africa. it was a jaw dropping number.

I thought it was 300 billion we sent to Africa. That number sticks out in my mind.

that sounds about right. hey, after a hundred billion, it turns into real money.
-
a shiver runs down my spine every time I hear him say, "as commander in chief . . . . "
-
Hearing him talk about the WWII generation... why does it feel like hearing a witch recite The Lord's Prayer?
-
"Frankly, we have lost these last 2 wars" :banghead: OMG...did he just say that??
-

they will mysteriously become won the day after he is elected, should that come to pass. just like the economy was miraculously in full blown recovery the day after bildo clinton beat bush41.

anyone notice how gray Obama has gotten this year?
-
if I am not mistaken Obama stole a McCain line when he said "after 9-11 I would not have told people to go shopping but to volunteer.! Didn''t MCain say that in the first forum at the church?
-
mayors fill potholes, trim trees, and make sure the garbage is taken out . . . . :whatever:
-
and one more time, why are we talking about MAYORS, when Sarah Palin is a sitting GOVERNOR. WTF is wrong with these people? oh, wait . . . don't answer that. silly question.
-
"part of my job as president will be to make government cool again"? I think I just had a stroke. someone call 911 for me.
-
volunteers for his campaign has broken all records.... :lmao: WTF does that have to do with national volunteerism for YOUR COUNTRY. what a stupid goon.

more than any president to date. Bono went around the world thanking President Bush for his largesse.

he's putting me to sleep :blah:

now we are comparing obama to kennedy. :whatever:
am I the only person in the world that thinks that kennedy was, at best, a very mediocre president?
-
if the media drills into him just a tiny bit in the debates, mccain is going to romp.

I wasn't born yet...can't help ya out...

i honestly have no idea what kind of a president he was as i was still in utero when he died and looking backwards, we can always see the mistakes of course, but I have lived long enough to see that this country wipes all the dirt off our celebrities who die young and embues them with a fairy tale that was never there before..

I guess I thought there was such a thing as objective history if you looked hard enough. :-) I believe lincoln was a great president, and my grandparents weren't born when he was assassinated. :uhsure:

the fox panel is gong to discuss the Sarah Palin interview next. this should be worth watching.
-
Did anyone catch Obama's phrase "when I was in the back, listening...."?
I swear I heard him say that. None of the Fox commentators made mention of it, either.
He said it, and quickly said something else.....like he wanted to cover up that he had said it.
He said a lot of the same things McCain said, sometimes almost word for word. Which Fox did comment on.
Either Obama was listening to the questions and McCain's answers....or someone else was giving him a word for word replay.
-
They didn't hide the fact that Obama was able to listen to McCain's responses. Actually, it was one of the first things the interviewer stated before they began.
-
That explains it, thanks. We were having a storm and the satellite was goofy for the first 10 minutes or so.
But I question the fairness of it.....especially in view of the polls rising in favor of McCain. Seems like Obama was able to pick up on the audience response to McCain's answers and adjust accordingly.
-

foxnews was also having audio problems for the first few minutes. they cut out on me several times, and I am cable.
-
I think this was a really bad idea to have this fluff nonsense on 9/11. McCain should have taken a pass on it.

doing it on 9/11 was the whole idea . . . having a non-partisan "discussion" about national service on the anniversary of 9/11 struck someone at foxnews as a good idea. I agree with you, the whole thing was a massive bore. but having them appear together was part of the concept. it was a big :kumbaya: moment.

I was watching Fox too...I thought it was all our satellite. Our house sits down low and surrounded by very tall trees...if the wind blows hard....our sat goes goofy. :banghead: We don't have cable in our subdivision. :bawl:
