What Vance is hoping you don't know: CSM Walz COULDN'T have deployed in the first place
Let's talk about the Military Physical Profile Serial System for a minute.
The military likes quick and easy ways to describe things, and one of the things they need to describe is a troop's physical condition. To this they have developed a six-channel system they call PULHES.
P = overall Physical condition
U = Upper body - everything from the waist to the top of the head
L = Lower body - everything from the waist to the floor
H = Hearing and ears, including the organs controlling balance that are found there
E = Eyes and vision
S = pSychiatric and mental health
For each channel, there are ratings from 1, completely fit for duty, to 4, so limiting that you really need to be studied by the Medical Evaluation Board to see if you can even be in the Army at all. These profiles can be permanent or temporary; a soldier who breaks her arm while doing her missions will receive a temporary 3 in the U channel, and when it heals she'll go back to having a 1 there. Most troops join the military with all 1s unless they need glasses, and then they receive a P2 in the Eyes channel. My own PULHES was 111121. Since the Army issues glasses - ones so ugly the troops call them "birth control glasses" but glasses nonetheless - they don't see having a P2 for Eyes as a huge problem. However, it WILL keep you from being accepted as a pilot, something I really wanted to do during my time in service. (This is what they'd give Trump these days: "S-4. Diagnosis or treatment results in high to extremely high risk to the military or patient due to potential impairment of duty function, risk to the mission or ability to maintain security clearance and which has already undergone an MEB (Medical Evaluation Board)."
Tim Walz served as an artilleryman. Artillery soldiers use weapons like howitzers and multiple rocket launchers, which are extremely loud when fired - and when they're fired you don't shoot once, you shoot as many times as you have to in order to kill all the enemy. Lots of cannoneers carry P3 and P4 profiles for Hearing, and that group includes CSM Walz. From what I've seen online he was so incredibly deaf they had to perform a surgery to replace the three small bones in his ears that transmit sound from the eardrum to the auditory nerve with 3-d printed ones to fix his ears. If you have this kind of operation the Army isn't going to let you in the same grid square as a firing battery. They'd probably be hesitant about even letting you go to the motor pool on Monday morning to check the oil in your howitzer's engine.
Now...here's the thing. Any P3 or P4 in your PULHES profile renders you non-deployable. If you can't hear, see or walk you can't fight wars. Even if he would have known about the deployment and stayed in because of it..."sorry sarge, you're deaf as a post, you're going to stay home."
TL R **** JD Vance and **** all his enablers.
Typical DUer attempt to create an alternate reality. Start out with a wall of text cut and pasted off the internet to try to establish yourself as an expert. Then make declarative statements, without any proof, backstopped by that wall of text. So, let's look at reality. Walz has stated in the past that he did have some hearing issues and that he did have ear surgery to repair or replace some of the bones in one or both of his ears. He even tried to get out of his DUI arrest by claiming that he couldn't hear or understand the arresting officer. Let's take that as factual. So, some simple questions to the DUmmy:
1. Where did you get your information that he was so profoundly hearing impaired that he was unfit for duty? Walz has never claimed that was a factor in his retirement. In fact, he's spent the last 20 years dodging issues surrounding his retirement. If he was medically unfit, maybe someone should fill him in on that fact.
2. If he was medically unfit why did the Army not only retain him, but promote him? Why would a person be put in a leadership role, if they were in no position to actually lead? Did he get his position through attrition? Or was he sucking up to all the right people to get promoted, even though he was unqualified?
The answers to those questions will yield one of two things. Either the Army, and Walz, are completely incompetent and he was over-promoted into a position that was beyond his abilities. Or, this DUmmy has completely fabricated this excuse. Of course, the rest of DU readily buys into this work of fiction and runs with it.

1. Thank you for an interesting and illuminating post, jmow!!
I’ll be saving this and sending it ‘round to friends, hope you don’t mind!!
Much appreciated!!
How long will it take for the Dems to elevate this fantasy and try to make it the new reality?

2. You are saying Walz is "deaf as a post"?
The Harris campaign does not say that and they do not give that as any reason for non-deployment.
Don't interject facts into this discussion.

55. That is because that was not the reason for him not deploying, he had already made the decision to retire and
run for congress. All the poster is pointing out is that if he had not already made the decision, he would not have been deployed anyway because of his hearing loss.
Prove it.

8. Thank you for the link but I wasn't aware of his hearing difficulties, and
wondered about his personal medical info becoming public information, and the accuracy of it. I did find a link that made vague reference to his hearing and corrective surgery. I'm guessing this will soon come into clearer focus as the accusations that he abandoned his unit continue.
You were way ahead of the press on this. Congratulations!

Ahead of the press…
It’s called group intelligence.
His experience plus the ability to translate it to a significant news event is why we DU-ers are way ahead of the press and regular people on the news.
I’m sure most of you have the same experience that I do when friends and family send you a news item. You look at it and think oh that’s old news. Of course , being a thoughtful, polite person, you never say that.
Also notice how posters asked questions and the op was able to quickly provide sources and answer them immediately? That’s critical thinking in action.
I often tell my classes that this is why you want to belong to professional groups that have posting capabilities. We have that in AFT.
Thanks for the interesting and detailed post, jmowreader.
Yeah, it's kind of easy to get ahead of the press when you're just making stuff up. He didn't provide any sources to back up his claims. There is no critical thinking or group intelligence. In fact, as a group, they tend not to display any evidence of intelligence at all.

10. The other part of this is
that by the time you get to be a senior NCO, the military isn't going to risk losing you on the front lines after all your experience and training. You are valuable.
Walz was in an artillery unit, like me. We did not pack a rifle like infantry units, although we were targets. A senior NCO's job would be administration, not being on the front lines.
Vance is not only wrong, he's a lying piece of degenerate cock-sucking shit.
So senior military leaders are restrained from actually leading? If Walz stayed in, was he going to leading his men from a bunker in Minnesota? And what has Vance lied about? He's only pointed out the issues with Walz's claims, which the Harris campaign is working overtime on spinning or correcting.

23. On a more serious note
The upper ranks of enlisted rarely go to war because most of them aren't field troops anymore, but middle management or aides to officers, that sort of thing. They're needed for other roles that are also important.
Another one claiming that senior leadership aren't actually put in a position to lead.

I'm always amazed how much effort they will expend on creating and then spreading a lie. And then months or years later they will parrot that lie even though it's easily disproven. Some of them really do exist in an alternate reality.

Hi-5 for bringing this over, but the DUer below made me laugh so hard the coffee came out of my nose...

Since most of the press are also lapdogs for their Democrat Party overlords and do whatever they are told to do by said Democrat Party overlords, I can understand comparing the press to DU; however, anyone with an IQ greater than 12 knows that DU is not "ahead of the press" on anything other than maybe saying "thank you sir, may I have another" when the Democrat Party overlords slaps them in the face because the press is more useful idiots than DU. DU is just the online asylum where they send the small number of useful idiots who are too stupid to realize that in order to get votes from normal people you can't be constantly letting your inner commie be revealed.

So, despite being unfit Walz had to go over his immediate superior's head to get his retirement approved?
And his peers and reports were so clueless that they thought he would deploy, up to the moment his retirement was announced?
These are examples of why Making Shit Up has to be done with care and thought. When you do it carelessly, casual observers of very ordinary intelligence :-) can see the gaping contradicting holes in the Made Up Shit

Sometimes the lack of how the Military works over at the DUmp is beyond amazing. As far as i know there is nothing to keep senior NCO's from going into combat. there are plenty of E-6 to E8 or 9's that get to go and sometimes find themselves in combat. Some people should ask CSM Plumly about finding themselves in the shit as a senior NCO and if he was allowed to be there or he wanted to be there at the Battle of the Ia Drang.
