Title: I'm So Confused
Post by: vftb on January 23, 2008, 08:57:41 PM
In time, you'll find out that confused is my natural state.  Got a question here; although John Edwards is basically a non-entity anymore, it's in regards to him anyway.

Like all other Dems, John Edwards is pissing and moaning about the cost of health care.  Ok, let's review this whole thing:  John made his millions suing medical providers on malpractice issues.  One of the main contributers to the astronomical costs of health care is malpractice insurance.  Ergo, isn't one of the biggest problems in relationship to the cost of health care John Edwards and his ilk??  Just wondering why nobody isn't just sticking his nose in it  :lost:

If John was being competitive with them, I think they would.  But I don't think they view him as a threat at this point.

The left needs the "America needs socialized health care" meme more than they need to shut down Edwards (whom no one listens to anyway).

Look at USA Today.  The uninsured in the USA -- a whole (drum roll) 13%!!!

So we should restructure our entire society for 13%  While we're at it let's all be forced to learn Aleut.

I don't think you're confused at all.  It seems to me that you get it quite well.

What confuses me, is why are people harping on $400 haircuts (which is cute  :-)) when I think this is the elephant in the room??  This should have blown him off the stage at the git-go.  I can't believe the guy has the balls to bring up the high cost of health care  :mental: :mental:

In the first Democratic debate Wolf Blitzer asked the candidates how they would pay for universal healthcare.   All claimed it would not require raising taxes until of course it came John Edward's turn to respond.   "hell yes we would raise taxes" was his response.  I laughed myself sick over that response, as I just could not believe he would commit political suicide by making such an utterance.   The far left ate it up, and he is still in the race.

Of course John Edwards would have the best of both worlds -- universal healthcare paid for by increased taxes, and no changes to litigation practices.

well, if you listen to Edwards and his wife, he is the reason that bad doctors stop practicing. or.. he is the reason we are protected financially from doctors doing anything wrong, to matter how small, to us.

he thinks all doctors are just criminals waiting for a chance to exploit someone and he is a savior.

he has exponentially, along with other lawyers, caused the GYNs of this country to stop practicing. i worry for my two daughters and what options they may have when they start having families. doctors are forced to pay such high medical premiums, that a lot of them are deciding either to take the risk and not get insurance or they are getting out of the business. fewer and fewer of them can afford to keep practicing, especially in smaller areas.

so... to Edwards mind, he has 'cleansed' the medical profession of people who might hurt us... and he's perfectly ok with that cause with his money, he can buy medical care anywhere.

the truly ironic thing is... his wife may not be saved by all his money.

You ladies are going to have to help me with this.  Hasn't the occurrence of C-sections gone way up because doctors don't want to expose themselves to the risk of normal childbirth?  Or is it the other way around; told you I live in a state of confusion  :banghead: :thatsright:

Whichever the trend, John Edwards was directly responsible for that one  :mental:

Yes, doctors are more doing more c-sections because if it's a prolonged labor they're scared of getting sued.  By people like Edwards, who then try to state that's why the child has cerebral palsy, not the fact that it was already predetermined much earlier in the pregnancy.

The cost of malpractice insurance for OB/GYNs is part of the reason that in vast areas of this country many women cannot get decent care.  John Edwards was one of the lawyers causing the price of malpractice to go up on OB/GYNs.

Also C-sections are harder on the woman than natural birth, but doctors are scared about being sued, so women go through more surgeries.

Edwards, and other lawyers like him, have hurt most doctors ability to just let pregnancies run their course. c sections may be up, i have no real idea on that one. i do know that we are losing doctors in this country who just dont want to deal with infants and risky pregnancies any longer. its just not worth losing their whole careers over anymore.
