Title: Possibly I should buy a handgun and get licensed to carry
Post by: FunkyZero on June 21, 2024, 10:38:52 AM
They are in hysterics, feeding off of each others bile and paranoia.
These nuts are dangerous.

Possibly I should buy a handgun and get licensed to carry,
in order to protect myself from mad-dog armed and dangerous Republican state legislators,
as well as the average armed magats, who may take offense
when you wrinkle your nose at the flag of their orange god....
or simply say "happy holidays" to them...

I could have been the "good guy with a gun" in that scenario,
since it obviously was NOT the GOP Michigan state legislator in question---
but sounds like it would have been a 'good shoot' if I had
felt compelled to defend the stripper...

Yes, buy a gun, then stop taking your meds. Oh, wait. You are probably a felon or dopehead already, so you'll have to lie on the 4473 like Hunter did

He's hot-tempered, especially when he's driving. A late acquaintance of mine, retired cop, also wouldn't carry for that reason. He had a firearm at home for protection -- husband does, too -- but would not carry.

We are already quite aware of left-wingers deficit regarding impulse control.

I'll worry about legal later.

Besides, guns are heavy, noisy and frankly, they small bad. If I run into trouble, maybe there's no cameras or witnesses around and I can bleed them out real quiet like and no one needs to know it was me.

This is 72 hour hold material right here.

Just make sure its a revolver as semi autos don't take kindly to limp wrists.

I realize this is virtue-signaling rhetoric lacking substance, but I see a couple of potential upsides if DemocraticPatriot actually tries this:

 :rotf: DemocraticPatriot would learn there are significant hoops to jump through to purchase a fire arm at an FFL dealer;

 :rotf: Unless DemocraticPatriot lives in a state where concealed carry has no prerequisites or qualification process, DemocraticPatriot would learn about the hoop-jumps required to get a concealed-carry permit;

 :rotf: If DemocraticPatriot has a criminal record or is a drug user DemocraticPatriot will learn a bit about what Hunter Biden got convicted of.

I know this hysterical silliness plays well on DU, but in the real world these gun owners passed a criminal background check to purchase their firearms from FFL dealers (and in some states, a couple of days delay before taking possession of their firearm), and if they have concealed-carry permits, jumped through even more hoops.

OAITW has the ability to tell, just by sound, the difference between a skillfully handled revolver and a semi-automatic? Yeah, not until the 7th consecutive shot (do .22 revolvers have more than 6 rounds?). Does OAITW have the experience necessary to distinguish, just by sound, between a skilled shooter doing a magazine dump and a true automatic? Such virtue-signaling rhetoric might play well on DU, but it doesn't hold up to minimal thought.

Personally, not speaking from experience, were I a thief scouting out a possible place to rob, hearing people in the neighborhood practicing with their firearms would persuade me to choose a less risky neighborhood as a possible target.

Thread has been locked as "Off Topic" for "GENERAL DISCUSSION".     :rotf:

Apparently, the stupid got too strong in that thread for EarlG to tolerate.

Guns are only noisy when you use them. The other noises you are hearing are probably the voices in your head because you didn’t take your medication.

I never heard of a gun that had Bo, maybe it’s you that needs a bath.

There’s an old saying” never bring a knife to a gunfight”  and unless you were trained to use it, a criminal will take it away from you and stuff it up your ass

So much wrong with the OP. I mean really, you think buying a gun because of some imaginary threat from the MAGA right is the reason to go out and buy a gun and not the real crime in your town? It's to bad they can't deny you a gun over that. I think you should fill up your bath tub and go play submarine with your head by keeping it underwater for a few hours.
