I'm the president of a non profit that helps families of kids with cancer. A local radio station KDKA News is going to do a segment on our group next week. They will have a link from their website to ours.
I have a website that badly needs to be updated. I want to put a button on the site, so that folks can use to easily donate to our cause. Any ideas on the best, easiest, cheapest, quickest way to do this?

Rethinking this.
I think I'm just going to stick with the old free site we have, just make some changes.
But I still need a Donate button. In the past most of our fund raising was done by another foundation, so the site was primarily for the families.
We don't have a paypal account or anything. I guess the first thing would be to set that up and go from there.

Terry, set up a paypal account and embed their button on your site. All it is is a matter of copying and pasting the button code on your web page. Look at our "Donate" button.

Thanks Thor, I'm off to do it. I figured that was best but it's been a long time since I looked into it.
BadCat, I am going to probably get the software you recommended and setup a completely new site. I just don't think I have time before next week.
The site we have is an old geocities site. I have two hopes. I hope we get a ton of traffic (and donations) from the publicity and I hope the site can handle the traffic.

sorry, terry, I'm clueless when it comes to that stuff, but want to give you a hug, and tell you I'm rooting for your site to get boatloads of traffic next week!

The burgh, eh?
Good luck on your worthy endeavor!
Check PayPal -- you can probably get help from them.

You should get 104.7 to do something too if you can.

My dad mentioned them too. Shelley Duffy was with B94 years ago and helped us out way back then, that's why we contacted her.
I'm open to pretty much everything right now. We had another foundation that was doing fund raising for us and they have decided to give directly to Children's Hospital, so we're scrambling a little to make up the loss.
The social workers in the Hem-Onc dept at Children's love us. They like the fact that they can contact us, we get whatever the families needed (bills paid, beds, refrigerators, car repairs, etc) right to the families. They don't have to deal with the hospital bureaucracy. They were really disappointed to hear that the money was now going to go through the hospital 'development' department. So we're trying to do the fund raising ourselves and if the money from the other foundation does actually get through the hospital to the families, well that's a bonus for everyone.

Will you PM me the link so I can donate? :-*

How about just posting a link on here. A lot of people would probably donate.

I will, I'm a little embarrassed about the look of the site at the moment. I'm making some changes. I will share it with everyone, get some feedback and maybe some donations. I'm not to proud to beg, especially for these families. :-)

Don't worry about the site look -- heck, it could be Usenet format and it would be OK -- what is important is the cause.

I once read a sight with a white background and yellow writing because it was important. No one cares here. Plus, maybe some of the ubergeeks on here could give you easy to use advice. :cheersmate:
