Do DU Males see Sarah Palin as a "Ball Buster? " The type of female who is really Male in her demeanor...or killer sports oriented in her day to day operations. She seems like a "Sports Mom" but doesn't she remind you of every "smiling beaurocrat" who denied you health insurance benefits, auto claims insurance benefits and the rest..even though you had a DISASTER and were just trying to "claim with the proper forms?" Was someone like "Sarah" who took your report smiling at you while she processed but then stuck the "shiv" in your heart when she "denied your claim?" I've seen dozens of Sarah, Barracuda in my lifetime....she brings back memories.
AND, she uses her "Kill Instinct" to show YOU who is BOSS?
I know this might be a posts that "Feminists" would go against...shocked to see such a post on DU...but underneath it all..
Aren't Candidates like Sarah Palin seen by both MALES AND FEMALES ...as "Ball Busters?" The type of person who is Male or Female who GOES AFTER their OPPOSITE SEX ..when it suits them...to WIN?
We've all seen these kinds of people in our local government rising to the "top of the ticket."
Isn't it time we recognized that there are some truly "out there candidates" who use their "Sex/Gender/Non-Gender...for their own "Personal Ambitions?"

There's plenty she's done that only a woman could do and much of it, as has been commented upon endlessly, is pretty awful and kinda in line with your OP's postulation.
The real problem is her dominionism, blind faith in religious extremism, and willingness to do whatever it takes to further the agenda of religious extremists.
She uses her womanhood as just another tool on her tool belt.

You know that's the thing...they're so blinded by their stereotypes that it becomes impossible for them to look at anything in a different light. It's always struck me as kind of odd (or maybe it's some Jungian thing) that people whose personal lives are so chaotic feel the need to sort the entire human race into neat little boxes. Blacks are thus and so, they believe thus and so, they vote thus and so. Change blacks to women, Latinos, gays, "fundies", Republicans...lather, rinse, repeat. They fly into a panic when someone doesn't play by the rules they've decided the world should play by and flail around desperately trying to make him or her fit. When they can't, which let's face it, is most of the time, they react with rage, anger, and hatred.
Sarah Palin doesn't just destroy their idea of what a (successful) woman should be, she rips their little box to shreds. That whole family is anathema to the world view they've created. Normal people, given such a shining example of a happy, healthy family would rethink their prejudices and be inspired by an elegant, strong, accomplished woman. This was the woman I thought we were all told we could be. Now that we have one who just might rise to the most important political office in the world, suddenly we're supposed to ignore all that bra burning Title IX "wimmins" rights stuff that's been shoved down our throats as if it were the mother's milk of the 20th century. Not because Sarah Palin doesn't represent what every woman can become, but because she has the gall to do so while being pro-life and Christian. If she were a dried up old hag, a pseudo-lesbian in a pantsuit (which has somehow evolved into the uniform of Vagina Monologue feminism) who marched her daughter into Planned Parenthood so they could worship on the sacrificial alter of her first grandchild being sucked into a bucket, they'd be drooling all over themselves to make her Jane the Baptist to Obama's messiah.
