Title: DUmmy gets owned by a Middle Schooler

People need to mind their own business

So, I still mask everywhere indoors in public, not sure much outdoors unless I’m under the weather, but definitely indoors.

I’m in a rural area, and I went today to the nearby middle school to interview somebody for a story I’m doing for Saturday.

Anyway, I have a nice interview, and as I’m walking out the door, this kid, I don’t know if he’s a hall monitor or something, asks, ‘Why the mask?’ I pretty much tell him I’m COVID cautious and it’s my prerogative. He tells me they don’t wear masks around here.

I tell him we could solve a lot of problems as a country and a society if we minded our own business more. He tells me that’s my opinion, and I tell him I believe I’m correct about my opinion.

Then he says something about ‘our freedom,’ to which I tell him he has his freedom and I have mine.

If you’re a parent, I hope you teach your kids to mind their own business about things that don’t affect them. Unless they see somebody hurting somebody else, they should stay out of things.

I was tempted to report him, but I didn’t.

So a child who is probably in the 10-12 year-old range and who went through all the masking hysteria asks a reasonable question and this DUmmy's response is to get up on his soapbox and try to lecture the kid.  He then loses the argument he started with a child.  And then he considers running to the Principal to tattle on the kid.  And he's so upset about the whole experience he runs to the DUmp to post about it.  This is one of the sillier posts I've seen over there and that's saying a lot when compared to the routine level of stupidity in most of their posts.

I’m going to keep my composure, especially with a kid, but I’m not going to let you bully me or badger me about me wearing a mask.

Help!  Help!  A 10 year-old is bullying me.

The kid needs a lesson in learning to mind his own business.

Too bad one of you couldn't have been the adult.

At least one DUmmy can figure out who acted more maturely in this supposed interaction.

I wonder what his DU name is??

LOL.  And, of course, a few of have to chime in and call the kid a "Trumper".  I was surprised none of them brought up reporting the kid would surely have led to the police responding, putting the kid in handcuffs and/or potentially shooting him.  I believe "badgering and pestering with attitude" is a misdemeanor in most states.

But I got the vibe was he was off putting, such as talking about ‘our freedom.’

Talking about "freedom" makes the kid suspicious, eh?

Reminds me of how Obama's IRS denied groups tax exempt status that had words like "liberty" or "freedom" in their name.

An unescorted primitive has no business wandering the hallways of a middle school.

If anyone in this situation deserved being reported on, it was the primitive.

Just keep in mind that if this had been a story about a primitive observing some kid scolding an adult about NOT wearing a mask, these same primitives would have been cheering the kid.

That’s hilarious!  Ripcord posts a lot of stuff that runs the DUmmies wrong.

Ummmmmm ... EnergizedLib is talking about "minding their own business" on a website that constantly, over God knows how many years, complains of people "voting against their own best interests".

The Cave's pantry does not have enough ::) s.

I thought the funniest part of that thread was the question, "what's the charges?"  "Pestering with attitude" sort of like "driving while intoxicated."

The 12YO or 13YO was being a 12YO or 13YO. EnergizedLib's response to the kid should have been, "Because I choose to. I don't owe you and explanation. Bye." And then walking off.

True :bouncy: time ... I see a few people at work wearing masks pretty much every day. I feel zero need to ask them, "Why?" Perhaps I've realized that they are mostly from Taiwan, China, and SE Asia, and have been doing this, that I know of, pretty much every flu/cold/etc. season since I started at the company (several years pre-Covid). Different cultures, different ways of perceiving and mitigating risk.

Some day the middle-schooler will understand the wisdom of MYOB; I doubt that EnergizedLib will ever get over his/her/??? need to virtue-signal.

Corey had no idea what this student's name is and he wants to report this kid for asking him a question? To be fair, I would try to teach my child to avoid this:

The 13yo should have directed Corey to the nearest boys room for a new tampon.

I agree, but I'd guess theres a 500 foot qualifier for many of them over there on the island, or should be.

A pad which could be adapted into a sort of mask would be better.

In my previous life, I traveled extensively on an international scale. Every time I went to Japan, it seemed to me 50% of the people there wore masks.

When I asked my Japanese counterparts why, their answer was twofold. 1) People are protecting themselves against disease (flu, cold, etc.) and the people are also protecting themselves against the high pollution.  This is an easy 25-30 years ago..

It took me a couple of years (probably winter 2017-2018) to notice that the masking I saw was during winter, i.e. cold/flu/etc. season. At the time I assumed the people I noticed had colds or ?? they didn't want to share.

About 45% of electricity in Taiwan is generated using coal, though it's probably less polluting than China's coal plants. Due to prevailing wind patterns, China does sometimes generously share their pollution with Taiwan.

Too bad the kid didn't call the cops and tell them some homo pervert just showed his dick at the elementary school ad was wearing a mask to hide his face.

On any website other than DU, getting owned by a middle schooler might seem strange.
