Simple, dumb downed messaging.
Simply put is you don’t fracture NATO over dues. Only an idiot would propose that. And even more important American Presidents do not assist dictators like Putin in destroying American Democracy or the United States.

The only idiot is you.

He’s forgotten about paying your fair share!

I'm still waiting for the dems to explain how telling NATO to spend what they agreed to spend on their militaries is assisting Putin, or why it fractures NATO.
-
Didn't Trump do this in his first term? IIRC, they ended up paying up.

I got your simple dumbed down messaging right here, DUmmy:
**** joe biden.

We spend to much on aid to other countries as it is and having to pay for the NATO allies to meet their obligations is not working. In fact until the rest of teh world figures it out that we are not an ATM we should stop sending anything but healing white light and good thoughts.

Oh, you abso****inglutely do! If I have a roommate and he's not paying his share, his ass is getting kicked out. These aren't third world nations. They have trillion dollar GDPs.

Is there any messaging at DU that isn't simple and dumbed-down?

Yeah; anything that doesn't originate from a DNC talking-points email.

What they don’t realize is nato nations need us more than we need them :thatsright:

:agree: :exactly: :yeahthat:
Considering how many decades they've all been neglecting their own defenses because "Uncle Sugar will bail their asses out of the fire", that there is the understatement of the century

Have boston bean, mal, or TEB ever told DU-folk what Hic! Filter they use for their posts?

The Dem's have been screaming for decades about how the US needs to cut the Defense budget and stop being the "World Police". In the past week there have been multiple threads on DU about how the US Navy shouldn't be protecting commercial shipping in the Middle East from terrorist attacks. I'm sure most of them don't realize that maintaining "freedom of the seas" has been one the US Navy's core missions since it was first established in 1775. And every time the Navy engages in a "freedom of navigation" operation they claim that the US is being aggressive and shouldn't be enforcing international law concerning maritime boundaries. So Trump actually agrees with them that the US has taken on more than our fair share of defense of our allies and the Dem's response is to say talk like that is "un-American". Their hypocrisy is apparent to anyone who has paid any attention to them for the past four or five decades.

I think it must be part of the user agreement that you have to disagree with everything regardless, if it’s good or not

Slashing defense - when not at war - to fund social programs has been normal Dem Party policy and action since FDR in the 1930s. And when they succeeded American soldiers, sailors, and Marines paid for their foolish ideological obsession with blood and maimed bodies. As for protecting commercial shipping through the Red Sea, not putting down the Houthi pirates would hit the entire world, not just EuroLanders (I thought DU-folk idolized EuroLand ... DU-folk obviously don't suffer from consistent logical reality-based thinking).

If paying NATO dues isn't a big deal then we should cut way back.
