It's very simple. DU was founded as a hate-site - hatred for President George W. Bush - and continues to be a hate site. The targets for hatred have changed over time, but DU hatred is a foundational constant. To sane outsiders, DU-hatred is irrational, to conservatives often amusingly irrational, especially when the hatred occasionally turns DU members against each other.
