Egg shell trick

I'm sure everyone is aware of how to get a broken eggshell out of the egg by using a larger portion of the shell to scoop out the smaller shell.

However, I've also discovered that that same technique will work with an egg yolk that breaks into the egg whites. One day this happened to me, while separating the yolks from the white the yolk broke into my whites. Usually I would save it for another recipe, but this one time I decided to try to scoop out the yolk with the shell. It worked!

This happened when I was making meringue. I wasn't sure if it would it work, but the peaks formed just like they were suppose too.

Just thought I would pass this along for those who might not know about this little trick.

I am flummoxed, utterly flummoxed.

How many times do the primitives invent the wheel, every time thinking it's something new?

Damn.

I'm no cook, but even I knew this.  It's a natural, instinctive thing to do.

Then franksolich's adopted grandmother:

1. Thanx, Muffin.

I'm always usually trying to fight the whites with my fingers or a spoon.

I'm sure grandma's just being nice; I'm sure grandma has used this "trick" all her cooking life.
