One week sober.
I checked myself in to detox from alcohol. I was drinking an inordinate amount but I rarely did anything that would call attention to my addiction. I had to be helped to my car a week ago Sunday (no I wasn’t driving) but when my wife called me on it, I didn’t remember.
Truthfully I began drinking heavily when TFG was elected. I despaired over the fact that loved ones would vote for a man willing to take away my rights. Not to mention that I see him as an evil man. It isn’t that I didn’t drink regularly before that, but that was a trigger that pushed me over the edge.
I was up to approximately 18 ounces of liquor per day. I drank until I passed out and if I woke up in the middle of the night, I’d pour another. If there was still liquor in my glass in the morning, I’d,add it to my coffee. Really at my age, impacting my memory, my health and my relationships.
I finally said I need help. I’m cautiously optimistic because I think I have a good support system. Everyone I’ve told has at least acted relieved. I think they will help me back on track. I’ll be starting a PHP Thursday, hopefully anyway. I have a few major things that will, no must, interrupt some of those days. My MIL is on her deathbed and I am finishing cancer treatment. I’ll be starting AA as soon as I find a nearby group.

Good for you for deciding to sober up but blaming your own personal failing on somebody else, especially Trump, in incredibly lame.

I don't think I'd make such a proclamation just one week in, but hopefully cate94 keeps sober. He really should not attribute the heaviness of his drinking to anyone but himself. One of the cardinal rules of recovery programs is to
:ownit:
The recoveree made the choices, not the object of blame. Even by cate94's account he had already been drinking, he just blamed Trump for an increase (which I'm inclined to doubt).

They keep talking about Trump taking away their rights, I don’t remember him doing anything like that. :argh:
They are really simple :thatsright:

18 ounces of Bud Light a day would make it pass out?
I suspect it is setting up a case for SSDI due to fake PTSD from TFG getting elected. ::)

I think he’s referring to 18 ounces of this

I think he’s just a fool looking for some sympathy and virtue signaling to get attention

My guess is that the intended - but not accurately expressed - meaning is 18 ounces of ethyl alcohol across whatever he was consuming. 18 ounces of even 7%-alcohol beer is very different from 12%-alcohol wine (non-fortified) or 43%-alcohol ("86 Proof") distilled spirits.
For the sake of comparison, the proverbial "couple of beers" would contain on the order of 2 ounces of alcohol. I'm relatively alcohol-naïve, so two beers would have me knowing I should not drive for a while. cate94 was consuming 9 times that much, daily.

Remember the Cardinal Rule regarding DUmmies: All DUmmies lie all the time. I'm guessing this one was drinking even more than they acknowledged. 18 ounces of alcohol daily would in and of itself be REALLY be heavy, so I'm wondering how much more they were actually consuming.

Drunken persons are not renowned for precision or awareness.

It's a DUmmy and as Frank says: "DUmmys lie. They lie all the time."
I think this particular DUmmy is lying. In whole, in part, or by omission, this DUmmy is lying.

I don’t think those with a drinking problem are very accurate as to how much they consume :thatsright:

And the funny thing is; every one I've met universally UNDERESTIMATES their consumption, rather than erring to the side of overestimation. :cheers1:

If I could survive four years of Jimmy Carter, eight years of Bill Clinton, and eight years of Oreo Man without resorting to drink, it should've been easy-peasy for this primitive to last a measly four years of the most competent president in American history.

The difference being that you weren't feeling embarassed for your own level of competence when Jimmy's, Bill's and Mike Robinson's Li'l Bitch's staggering levels of incompetence was on display during those years.
Most Dim'Rats, but DUm'Rats especially, can't help but be self conscious of their own intellectual failings when watching The Donald at work.

I suspect that most DUmmies are in desperate need of detox and rehab, but as far as I'm concerned, they can all stew themselves to death if they blame someone else for their problems.

Well...it has mah-lazy beat.

They all like to show off their victimhood to get a little sympathy. :-)
