Mom gets life in prison for microwaving baby (http://www.cnn.com/2008/CRIME/09/08/microwave.baby.ap/index.html)
DAYTON, Ohio (AP) -- A woman has been sentenced to life in prison without a chance of parole for killing her baby daughter in a microwave oven.
China Arnold was convicted for killing her baby by burning her in the microwave.
She was spared the death penalty because jurors could not reach a consensus on the punishment.
During the trial, an 8-year-old boy said he saw another boy walk into the kitchen of a nearby apartment with the baby, heard the microwave go on and then later saw the burned baby in the microwave.

Okay, and why isn't this woman getting crispy right about now? Anyone?

[DU: on] ::) Another victim of the right, denied appropriate family planning by the fundies. And now those same fundies want to murder her for an understandable act of desperation she was forced into by Bush. To see a REAL terrible mother, look no further than Sarah Palin, who drug her children onstage at the RNC. [/DU: off]

Having found her guilty, I'd love to know what was holding them back.

Mother convicted in kids' drownings free on parole
2 hours ago
DWIGHT, Ill. (AP) — Illinois prison officials say a woman convicted in the drowning deaths of her three children has been released on parole after serving part of a 10-year sentence.
Illinois Department of Corrections spokesman Derek Schnapp says Amanda Hamm left the Dwight Correctional Center Tuesday morning.
Hamm was convicted of child endangerment in 2006 in the deaths of 6-year-old Christopher Hamm, 3-year-old Austin Brown and 23-month-old Kyleigh Hamm. The children died after the family's car sank in a central Illinois lake.
Hamm's boyfriend, Maurice LaGrone Jr., is serving a life sentence after being convicted of first-degree murder.
Prosecutors say Hamm and LaGrone planned the drownings at the lake near their home in Clinton because the children were in the way of their relationship.
The couple has claimed the deaths were a tragic accident.
