I am no longer a southerner

Sold my house in South Carolina, packed a couple of bags, and now I am in Oregon and planning to stay. So far, I have only been in Portland, where I am waiting for my husband to join me. We've been planning to get settled outside the city.

Be "careful" how far from Portland or Eugene or Salem (and maybe Corvallis) you go. Normal - but out-voted - people live in most of Oregon. And even Salem has a base for a "Fundamentalist" missions organization about 2000 feet outside of the city limits (I checked GoogMaps).

I'm fairly certain at least 70% of those south of the Mason-Dixon line can't even work up enough give-a-shit to raise a glass at your receding backside, but they'll wish you a heartfelt BLESS YOUR HEART at your expectation that they care in the slightest.

I have $5 that says s/h/its absentee ballot for South Caroline has been taken up by the Dim'Rat National Committee of South Carolina.
