Jim Caviezel: I Lost Two Agents Over ‘Sound of Freedom’

Jim Caviezel agreed to star in a fact-based story about child sex trafficking, exposing an ongoing crime many people don’t know about.
...
The star of the summer’s indie smash “Sound of Freedom” is no stranger to bucking Hollywood wisdom. He’s an openly Christian actor in an industry that gets “freaked out” by people of faith. He starred in one of the most successful, and controversial films of the modern era with 2004’s “The Passion of the Christ.”

And he suspected that starring in a movie about child sex trafficking might come at a professional cost in Hollywood.

And, by his account, he was right.

“I want this to be so huge that they’re forced to look at this. I lost my agents over this. Yep, 17 years, 15 years. I lost my lawyer over this, and now I understand why all these actors didn’t want to do the movie because of this. Listen, you do ‘Schindler’s List’ 50 years later, you’re a hero. Try doing ‘Schindler’s List’ when the real Nazis are right there. Understand how that becomes more dangerous? I don’t understand why people are willing to let children be hurt, but in this time, Hollywood says, ‘No, no, let’s kick that down fifty years from now and then [see where we’re at]. That’s crap.”

Hollyweird is learning the meaning of the old proverb about how people escape between the fingers of those squeezing them. There are enough content producers outside of Hollyweird - geographically and business-wise - that Caviezel and others bucking Hollyweird will get revenge by simply doing well.

This is a bit local, but SF crazy and Bidenomics took out another victim:

San Francisco's Anchor Brewing Company says it's ceasing operations

Anchor Brewing Company, a historic San Francisco craft brewery, announced Wednesday morning it is ceasing operations and liquidating the business.

In a press release, Anchor Brewing spokesperson Sam Singer said that economic pressures made business "no longer sustainable," and that employees were given their 60-day notice Wednesday. In June, Anchor Brewing limited distribution to California and axed one of its most popular beers.

“The inflationary impact of product costs in San Francisco is one factor,” Singer told SFGATE at the time. “Couple that with a highly competitive craft beer market and a historically costly steam brewing technique. [They’ve] probably been mulling over this decision for a year. It’s not something they take lightly.”
...
Anchor was founded in 1896 and advertises itself as America's first craft brewery. It was sold to Sapporo in 2017.

Sound of Freedom was a good, if haunting, disturbing movie. I rather enjoyed the lead actor in Count of Monte Cristo (one of the greatest stories ever told) as well.

Current and former workers told VinePair, an alcohol-focused news outlet, that Sapporo is to blame for the closure, saying the Japanese conglomerate was deferring important brewery maintenance, fighting the union that workers formed in 2019, spending money on expensive automation equipment and investing in a controversial rebrand of the iconic logo in 2021.

“I think Sapporo sunk Anchor,” Nate Dias, a former production worker, told VinePair.

I'm no beer connoisseur, but when it comes to old SF icons, Anchor Brewing and Anchor Steam Beer are probably third only to sourdough bread and Chinatown. The Golden Gate Bridge might seem to be more iconic of SF, but it's some 40 years newer than Anchor Brewing.
