Shout out to the V.A. Healthcare System
Just out/back from another week long stay at the Robley Rex V.A. Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. As always I'm humbled by the care shown me by ALL the employees there. I was and have been treated like a King during my stays there. ALWAYS! (which as I get older seems to be much more frequent lol)

I know you Doctors/Nurses/Orderlies/and general staff don't get much love from ..... well, anyone , so I'm taking this opportunity to personally thank you for all the kindness and care shown me and the other veterans under your care. I've made use of many different V.A. Hospitals across the country and have unfailingly been treated with respect and dignity. You have no idea how the simple things like that helps when you are ailing. So , THANK YOU !! You are the BEST! Thank you from this old veterans heart for being there for us, it IS much appreciated.

It's actually not free. There is a co-pay that must be paid, although in the scheme of things, it's not much.

I've had good experiences at the VA too and my daughter was really impressed with the care I got after a TIA back in '09.

Now, would I go there for a major operation? Depends on who is doing the surgery. In atlanta, they are contracted with Emory Hospital (across the street) so I had Emory doctors working on me. I would trust them, and did, with my life.

If a veteran makes too much, they do NOT qualify for VA care which I think stinks. If you served, you deserve the care, but that's just me.

Seems the VA has vastly improved their reputation for care over the last couple of decades. My Dad was a WW2 vet and he wouldn't go to the VA because he always felt like they kinda experimented on people. He probably got that impression from vets he knew that had been hospitalized back in the 50's and 60's, maybe even the 70's. I don't know how true it was, but it was enough to convince him that he wasn't going to go there.

Maybe he's suggesting that LIEden has fixed the VA hospital system where Obama and Trump could not?

I may be wrong, Lord knows one time back in '92 I thought I was wrong, but I wasn't, but at one time the VA used military doctors (those who had a tendency to graduate at the bottom of the class and whose civilian opportunities were......limited).

Once the VA decided to contract out doctors from reputable schools/hospitals, the care became much better. The VA in Omaha uses interns/doctors from Creighton Med School..Atlanta uses Emory and so on..

Makes sense.

I wonder if the VA hospital in Palo Alto contracts to doctors at Stanford.

I'm not a vet.

I'm not a vet.

So? All you're doing is asking a question. If they ask if you are a vet, tellum no, but you're calling on behalf of one..

Note entirely true.  Once a veteran is rated at 50%, income requirement is removed. Also all veterans qualify, but are put in a somewhat tier system, so most don’t bother since their costs will be the same if not more for the same care at private doctor.
