Beautiful Disaster (424 posts)
Feinstein should not resign.
It's an unfortunate situation and one that was entirely avoidable but it is what it is. Right now, the best option is to get Feinstein back to DC and prop her up in the chair and hope for the best because resigning does nothing now. Newsom can fill her seat with anyone - but it's not going to automatically fill her vacated seat on the judiciary. They're still going to need the senate to vote (60 votes) to put that person there and it's clear the Republicans have no desire to aid the Democrats - and why should they?
Newsom can replace Feinstein if she resigns. But that replacement just becomes a senator - not automatically one who fills her spot on the judicial committee.
The best course of action at this point is to hope Feinstein can make her way back into the chamber.
Hell, didn't Republicans wheel Strom Thurmond in on a hospital bed years ago so he could cast the vote?
Get that bed ready for Feinstein if needed.

She'll do better than Fetterman.

I'm surprised you're surprised.
They expected no less from Buzzy Ginsberg when she was circling the drain. Hell, this has been their MO with The droolingPedophile in Chief; or while we're on the subject, what they've been doing for damned near 100 years with the shambling zombies that rise from their graves every November to vote DUm'Ratearly and often.
As far as DUm'Rats are concerned, death does not stop your service to the party; it only makes it permanent.

DU-folk have forgiven DiFei for failing to keep Kavanaugh off the USSC? When did that happen? :rotf:
And have DU-folk forgotten that Chuckles, not some R, controls committee assignments? So, if DiFei resigned, Chuckles would just pick another D for that committee? Don't DU-folk trust Chuckles' judgment? :rotf:

I think it's less that they've forgiven her, and more like they're just that mercurial and willing to embrace anyone who is useful to them.
