But why? I agree. My only guess is that they are building the case of the century, and when they wallop him with it, he'll be completely overwhelmed. It's gotta be a whole big list of crimes. And you don't want to arrest him, post bail, over and over again as you uncover more crimes. Yes, he should be detained pending trial but he's got unlimited $ and it would put the judge in the very tough position of detaining a former president, without bail.

Maybe legal professionals think differently, but normally you lead with your strongest argument, not one that makes you look desperate.
