There's a GMC truck ad running now on television

that shows satisfied drivers with their hands off the wheel, letting the truck drive itself.

I hadn't heard that we're ready for that yet. Seems irresponsible to me.

But, maybe GMC knows something I don't.

Here's the ad:

Look at this exchange.

1. It does say: Available for compatible roads.

So maybe the roads also have to have some embedded technology.

2. Does the vehicle know which roads are compatible?

Does the driver?

Are there, in fact, any such roads?

11. Some info from GMC

From GMC:

Quote
DRIVING CONSIDERATIONS

Make sure that:

- The vehicle is on a compatible road
- Lane markings are clearly visible (lane markings may be obscured, for example, by glare or poor weather conditions)
- Camera or radar sensors are not covered, obstructed or damaged
- The Driver Attention Camera system detects that the driver is paying attention to the road ahead

14. Yeah, OK. But, see, most people don't read instructions,

and wouldn't follow them if they did read them. It's not the words, it's the depiction of a driver clapping and singing along while the car barrels down the highway. That's the idea GMC is selling, not safety or the technology.

"Here. Hold muh beer and watch this. I ain't driving this rig...it drives its own self."

 :lmao:

MM didn't read the instructions, see.  Pompous ass just got owned!

It appears that Rockhead went to sleep and the world passed him by.

Post obama, I completely agree.

You just described DU, the Democrat party, moonbats and a lot of liberals on a multitude of subjects.  Government, religion, technology, just to name a few.

My friend ordered a GMC pickup truck with that hands free driving option. I told him tilt the steering wheel down and drive with his leg instead paying for that option. He could save a bunch of money and not be annoyed by the "driver alert system" any time he moves his head while driving.

My first car was a 1967 Oldsmobile Cutlass 4 door.  I could take my hands off the wheel and the car would go considerable distances without me having to make corrections.

When I read the thread title, I thought it was going to be a rant about how the ad must be targeted at toxic MAGA men and such.
