allegorical oracle (1,060 posts)
Yikes! Just learned that the cow in the blue and white dress who accused Dems of enjoying their [View all]
popcorn and alcohol is my U. S. Rep., Kat Cammack. (I voted for her D opponent.) She's former deputy chief of staff for former Rep. Ted Yoho and co-chairs the House anti-abortion caucus, altho she does say she would permit abortions in the case of rape, incest (if reported to law enforcement) or mother's life. Also voted to overturn the 2020 election.
Someone who has obviously never seen a DU pic thread has called a woman a cow. Only thing better than seeing the responses would be eating an actual cow. (https://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1002&pid=17525172)

10. No fat shaming
Intelligence and class/dignity shaming is just fine as she has none of those things.
Suuuuuure.

17. I'm still confused as to why that was a bad thing for her to say
I mean, I am enjoying my popcorn and champagne very much, thank you 🤷🏻♀️
$20 for whomever has a pic of this DUmmy.

53. Oh MAGNIFICENT...
Slurring an overweight WOMAN as a COW
If she was Jewish would you have dropped a Jew slur, too?
What website am I on?
Is the OP Andrew Tate?
Delete this crap.
I am genuinely confused. They call Trump fat every day of the week, several different ways. Mar a Lardo, etc. What's the difference?
In any case, I think it's time for us to post a DU pic thread.

87. There's no consistency to it really
For example in a thread with 71 recs by a crowd favorite they implored DUers to “get off their blubbery asses”.
That’s not directed at a fascist Republican who would put us all in gulags if she had the chance, it’s directed at DUers!
But nary an objection from those complaining loudest in this thread.
To your point about the slobfather references, I think it’s not unlike office or middle school politics. If you’re in the cool kids mutual admiration society, you get a wide berth. If not, you don’t.
Someone is going to get banned ...

I used to work at a hospital (in a non-medical capacity) and they had mobile computers they used. The term was COW (Computer on Wheels).
Some of the more "rotund" nurses took offense to this term.
It was changed to TOW (Terminal on Wheels)..

I don't know when all the being overly sensitive started, but it's ridiculous. I don't remember people being this sensitive when I was growing up and even up into my 30's. Maybe I just wasn't paying attention, but I don't think that's the case.

So much pearl clutching over language. Hey, Rep. Kat Cammack is, to put it politely, calorically challenged. As my friends will sarcastically comment at times, "she's a lot of woman". And I'm not a hypocrite, sometimes you've got to call a spade a spade (is that term even allowed anymore?)
Anyway, I referred to the hosts of "The View" as heifers in a thread yesterday. I don't care what language people use, words don't offend me.

Being overly sensitive has always been among us. However, with the new liberal enlightenment, it is now ok to use the offense as a club to beat down your opponent and change the direction of a conversation.

I bet those TOWs felt a lot better, huh?

I am nowhere near the issue of whether language is unkind. I am still on the rank hypocrisy (note to lurking DUmmies: I did not misspell 'hypocracy.' The word you struggle to spell correctly since 2001 is spelled as thus: h-y-p-o-c-r-i-s-y) of DUmmies getting bent that someone is mean to fat people on one side, but lose their ever loving minds when one of their precious is called fat.
I am ambivalent about name calling; I don't mind doing it in this forum, but in person I doubt I'd call someone an unpleasant name to their face. In the case of the obese, it is partly because I am myself somewhat obese, but also because I am afraid I would be killed and eaten.

Alinsky rule 5 for me, but not for thee. That's what that's all about. It's about power, nothing more.

DUmmys are NOT cows. DUmmys are WHALES.
You put a typical DUmmy and a cow on a balance scale and the scale will tip to the DUmmy 9 times out of 10.

Cause if it weren't for double standards, the DUmp would have no standards at all.

Intelligence and class/dignity shaming is just fine as she has none of those things.
And why is that okay? She has no more control over her intelligence than her fat.

But remember, just the other day, the DUmp said calling a white person a "cracker" meant nothing, or at best was possibly a term of endearment. :mental:

Of course, I'd never call someone such names in real life unless they're a close acquaintance and friend. One of my best friends is 6'1" and varies between 300 and 375 pounds. He knows he's fat, and we don't tease him about it, but slight little digs are acceptable amongst friends. As I recently said in a different thread about libtards and their claim that short people are better for the planet, I said that I don't judge people on their superficial features. And I meant it and observe that philosophy.
However these leftists that inhabit the world are ugly on the inside and in most cases outwardly as well.

Have heard of half of those, but certainly there are regional colloquialisms to entertain us all. :cheersmate:

Oh absolutely, the older I get the more Appalachian influence seems to show up.

Mostly I am just afraid of being eaten by a DUmmy, or by Lizzo, for that matter.

I have a pretty acidic tongue, especially when somebody gives me reason to disrespect them. I would, however, refrain from referring to DUmmy womyn as bovines, as that would be insulting to totally undeserving cattle
