First, they came for the lawyers...
The DOJ has been terribly concerned about the missing documents. Since Trump's lawyers found a couple more classified documents in a storage compartment in Florida, they are even more concerned.
They requested a written statement from the Trump team, under penalty of perjury, that there were no more documents. The problem is that neither Trump nor any of his team of lawyers will sign such a statement. His own lawyers do not trust him.
The Special Counsel and the DOJ are left with little choice but to charge the entire Trump team, including Trump, with contempt. This may initiate a daily fine on Mr Trump until the DOJ receives the sworn statement from them?
This creates a dilemma for Mr Trump that he has never seen before. He has always been able to hide behind his lawyers and slick legal maneuvers to stay away from criminal charges and to stay out of jail.
But this demand by the Special Counsel takes away that shield. If he loses his lawyers, he is defenseless against all charges.

More stupid from Ken****

:rotf: Trump, et al, aren't falling for a perjury trap, the poor Prog babies. Trump handled classified documents by the tens of thousands per year. The chances that some document accidentally got trapped behind a desk or filing cabinet drawer or accidentally got misfiled by Trump or a staffer in a non-secret folder or intentionally got hidden away by a Prog-mole staffer are pretty much a certainty.
:rotf: Trump, et al, aren't stupid enough to give LIEden's FBI an easy pretext for a weeks-long fishing-expedition and spy-mission at M-a-L and every Trump office he visited during his Presidency.

“First, they came for the lawyers…”

The primitives pull that poem out every so often when they’re trying to impress each other. Ken is about dead, so that he recalled it at all is a miracle in itself. But he’s a quack and has been and always will be, and at this point in his old age he’s just grabbing at what little he can remember to try and appear smart, since he’s not.

The Hate-Trumpers' strategy of keeping Trump from getting legal representation by trying to criminalize working for Trump seems to be coming up short ... going on 8 years of coming up short.

What do you have when you've got a lawyer buried up to his neck in sand?
Not enough sand.

A good start..

How do you get a lawyer out of a tree?
Cut the rope.

What's the difference between a lawyer and a catfish?
One's a slimy, scum sucking bottom feeder, and the other's a fish.
-
What’s the difference between a vacuum cleaner and a lawyer riding a motorcycle?
The vacuum cleaner has the dirt bag on the inside.

Not a problem at all.
Y'all can have your side of the ol' "Muddy River" with my blessing (as if you needed it in the first place) and I'll stay safely ensconced on this side, in Galt's Gulch. The only reason y'all are more than I can handle is that I've already got my hands full keeping the crazies from the Left Coast and Colorado at bay.

Until the ROEs are relaxed, my hands are tied and I'm not responsible for the present state of affairs.

Given the line of work I'm in, John Galt or Hank Reardon are more my line.

Hank Reardon, huh?
Finally found something for you to read re Francisco & Rearden ...
In fewer words than I could have managed! :-)
https://www.cliffsnotes.com/literature/a/atlas-shrugged/character-analysis/francisco-danconia
More than anyone else, Francisco helps liberate Hank Rearden from the shackles of the self-sacrifice ethics, enabling Rearden to recognize the virtue and necessity of the strike.

Oh Mercy! Must now look up Hank Rearden from the same source & will do later on when I can!

Hi again Defiant ...
Didn't bother to look up Hank Rearden after all; simply clicked on your image of the drafting table in your avatar. in order to find out the line of work that you are in.
Very impressive line of work indeed. Everything from engineering, designing, or architecture.

Milton Friedman !!! ...
Another one of my HEROES LOC. When we lived in PLANO TX, a suburb of Dallas, got to attend (not as a student) one of his lectures at SMU, purchased a signed copy of his and his wife Rose's books, forget the title at the moment, darn it ... argh! :argh:
Years later, when moving, and finally cutting down on all our collection of books, sold it, among others, to a book store owner/!collector who grabbed it up right away! (Delighted-smile!)

I read "free to choose" cover to cover. It had to be a true honor to see him in person. I kept wondering what he'd say about the big check giveaway during the covid event. America lost a true guiding light when he passed
