Title: Philly Mayor Blasts Palin
Post by: Splashdown on September 06, 2008, 07:44:13 AM
I'm from suburban Philly. This guy's got 200 murders a year to deal with, but he'd rather attack the RNC:

Quote
(PHILADELPHIA) Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter boiled over with contempt, directed at Republicans, as he introduced Sen. Joe Biden in at the Ironworkers Union Local 401 Hall today in Pennsylvania.

"I was astounded, astounded at what I saw at the Repulsive National Convention on Wednesday night, at the RNC between Giuliani and Governor Palin,” said the mayor.

“Insults have now replaced ideas. Invective has now replaced innovation. Personal attacks have now replaced policy addresses. I have never seen such a negative climate in this country as we saw Wednesday night. And then the other guy had the audacity last night to start talking about partisanship and people working together. We're going to bring folks together. Not one idea, not one proposal. Not anything that effects anybody in this room! Not a word! Not a word!”

Heh. he lashes out at insults AFTER he calls it the "repulsive national convention." That's the pot calling the kettle, um .... I don't want to be labled a racist.

Nutter got a bit hyper. Then he started defending community organizers, including the PTA, elected officials, union members, etc., etc. I wonder if anybody told him that Gov. Palin was a member of the PTA, a member of a union family and an elected offical. I swear. These two months are going to be fun.

Of course he can insult Republicans because his seat is safe their in Ghettodelphia with the union workers and poor minorities looking for government handouts. If he were trying to get a congressional seat or run for president, this would be great fodder.

Nutter's the same guy who told Joey Vento his support wasn't welcome, and that he was "anti-American," or words to that effect.  For those of you who don't know, Joey Vento owns one of the two most popular cheesesteak joints in the city, and is famous for his support of the FOP and Maureen Faulkner, as well as a "speak English when ordering" sign at his place.  Joey Vento is Mr. Philadelphia... and he's not good enough for Mayor Nutball.  Spendell, Street, now Nutball.  No wonder the rest of the country thinks we're awful.

Convention Speech Smack Down
Who was meaner to the other guys, the Democrats or the Republicans?

Conventional wisdom holds that Democrats smile while Republicans attack—and that the speeches at the just-ended conventions reflect that. Yet the four major speeches of the last two weeks—those of Joe Biden, Barack Obama, Sarah Palin, and John McCain—paint nearly the opposite picture.

The Democratic ticket mentioned McCain far more often than Republicans mentioned Obama. Obama aimed far more barbs at McCain than McCain did at him.

http://www.slate.com/id/2199464/

According to the chart at the link, Palin mentioned Obama once, Biden once, and made 9 barbs at opponent.

Biden mentioned McCain 22 times, and Obama mentioned him 21 times...(though I'm sure they were all positive  :whatever:) and combined made 9 barbs aimed at opponent.  Yeah, the RNC was just SO repulsive.   ::)

In our defense, it was a pretty crappy Santa Claus.  :innocent:
