Again; WHERE ARE THE ADS ABOUT SOCIAL SECURITY?!!!

By openly talking about getting rid of social security & medicare the republicans have given the Democratic party a political gift that will not come along again in 10 lifetimes.. It's possible to run ads on abortion rights AND social security!!! Has the Democratic leadership decided that retirees and seniors don't vote? Fear motivates people. Republicans lie to scare voters. The Democratic party can be 100% truthful to scare people into voting. What the hell is the leadership in the Democratic party thinking? After the mid-terms is too late to say " gee maybe we should have run a few ads on social security "

First and foremost, DUmp Mutt. That is inappropriate use of a Semicolon. Just want to point that out.

So, this newbie is already trying to strut its stuff by stirring up the Hornets Nest. Lurking Mutts. Please, what Politician with an "R" behind its name is running to rid the U.S. of A. of Social Security and Medicare? Got any links? Of course not. That would be asking too much.

You morons have been running on that since before I was alive, probably. Its time for a new song and dance.

1. And Ukraine? MAGA Republicans plan alliance with Putin to

Crush Ukraine, then roll on Poland and Moldova.

3. I'm not impressed with the effort by Democrats. They should be banging the SSN and Medicare drum.

The Republicans don't miss a chance to bang the inflation, crime and border drum.

They tried banging that S.S. and Medicare drum. Everyone knows its a lie.

As far as:

1. Inflation. Its an actual problem. If you havent noticed.

2. Crime. Its an actual problem. If you havent noticed.

3. Border. Its an actual problem. If you havent noticed.

16. Good question

I'm also wondering why these "why aren't Democrats..." posters aren't out there working to GOTV, instead of complaining here.

Maybe to piss you off? Sow seeds of deception? Make you Mutts question ever DUmmy? Any of those seem reasonable enough. Just think lurking Mutts. We could be ANY of you..  :whistling:

There is no plan to dump SS that I am aware of.  SS is still the "3rd rail" of politics.

DUmbass DUmp Monkeys: could it possibly be that your Party hasn't run ads about these topics because THEY THEMSELVES have done more to undermine and endanger American lives and security in regards to these hot button topics than any "Republican boogie man" you could name, and just perchance don't want to attract any more attention to their record than absolutely necessary?

Oh, and your ads on these usual topics? You'll find 'em in the spot y'all ALWAYS go to get your information, imbeciles...

It shouldn't be. What I'd like to see:
1. A scaled opt out plan. Depending on your age, the percentage you can opt out decreases. Up to 30? 100% opt out. 40?70% 50, 60, 70 etc...
2. If you opt out, you get a percentage of what you've already contributed back.

Makes too much sense. Instead the Ponzi scheme will get worse as they push FRA back further and further - a few months at a time - until people will not be able to collect until age 80.

That was the original intent with social security.  The average lifespan continued to get longer as medicine improved but the collection age didn't change. Also, it became fashionable to have smaller families or no children at all. This also weakened the program.  It was even opened up to people who never contributed or contributed the bare minimum(most of DU). It was also intended to be supplemental retirement,  not to be your soul source of income. The whole premise was flawed from the start. My idea is to give enough people as soft a landing as possible before it comes crashing to the ground.

I've been told since I was a kid that Social Security funds would be completely gone before I reach that age, for the reasons you've already described. First the Greatest Generation, and then the Baby Boomers were supposed to deplete it. Yet it still lives on and is "expected" that everyone get S.S. by whatever arbitrary age they keep raising it to. Us Gen-X'ers with a modicum of sense started to invest in 401(k)'s, Roth IRA's, etc. to take care of ourselves in the future sans Social Security.

I will go one better, let me opt out and they can keep everything I already paid in.

No.  I have paid in for 40+ years.  Give me BACK what I paid in with a reasonable ROR (I will go as low as 4%) and then shut it down.

I've been setting up IRA accounts for many different people just because nobody knows when the whole thing will collapse. Social security has been presented to the average person as some sort of panacea for retirement.  It was never intended to fund the whole thing, only as a supplement. People would've been much more in tune with their retirement goals and needs without that artificial safety net. Imagine what returns you could've made if you were able to invest it the way you wanted rather than stolen from every paycheck.

It's interesting how many issues DUmmies imagine would be devastating to Rs that the D Party is neglecting (= "issues" that even D leaders know are on no voters' radar screens).

Those ads will include video and audio of this "openly talking" right?  Cause there is so much of it floating around, correct? Or do you just have imaginary/twisted quotes that come from your very appropriate username?

Yea, yea, yea. I remember my dad, back in the late 80's saying he'd never vote for a republican because they want to take away his social security.

This claim has been going on for at least 35-40 or more years and guess what DUmmies, it's still here.

So my question is why do they insist on propping up such a monstrosity? The ROI is dismal and would do much better on the open market with even the most conservative of returns

Was reaching voting age in the late 80's & politically aware and don't recall it being a partisan issue on whether S.S. would go away or that the evil Republicans were going to take away social security. The amount of $$$ put in simply wouldn't be enough for future retirees at some point and it would fall apart.
