You know my friend Carol Blood is running for Governor of Nebraska. Today there was a parade in Bellevue. I was in the group with Carol. Below is the group gathering to walk the route.

One doesn't really expect to see the big guy in any photograph but one's surprised by the absence of poor dear Marta.
About a year ago, a neighbor of theirs in Bellevue told me of seeing Marta in the grocery store, sporting an awesomely-big shiner surrounding her left eye, and I wonder if that's the case here.
The big guy, even though he uses, misuses, and abuses her, he's not a wife-beater.
As his medical condition demands that the big guy be strapped to a stout wooden chair during one of his "spells," I'm sure it's a struggle for poor dear Marta to tie him down.
It's that porphyria, to which he was first afflicted a few years ago.
Poor dear Marta struggles to keep him on diet appropriate for that madness, but is constantly undercut by their little granddaughter, who dotes on her big blubbery grandfather, and daily smuggles in a six-pack of McDonald's Big Macs for him.

While part of the Omaha metro area, Bellevue is a small city of 65K-66K. This "parade" probably was a dozen or two pickup trucks with campaign signs in their beds or on a small trailer, maybe with a flatbed truck or two thrown in. If there was a clown, it probably was Carol Blood herself.

It won't make much difference what she wears, as she's a lost cause anyway, given the stature of her Republican opponent.
Usually by this time Nebraska would be getting bored with such a long unbroken streak of Republican governors, but not this year. Nebraska is a safe Trump state, yet his preferred candidate in the primary last May lost (a loss that had nothing to do with Trump).
The Republican candidate for governor back in 1978 was a member of the University of Nebraska football
team.
During the final game of that season, Nebraska had done really well, but was confronted with Barry Switzer's formidable Oklahoma Sooners, who'd humiliated us the preceding six seasons. We were the underdog in that game, by a substantial margin.
Nebraska surprisingly was leading 17-14 the last minutes of the game, but had to give up the ball to Oklahoma with time fast running out. Billy Sims of Oklahoma caught a long pass, and sprinted down the field unhindered, clear to the Nebraska 3-yard line, when he inexplicably fumbled the ball, which was recovered by the soon-to-be governor with no time remaining.
She doesn't have a chance of beating him.
Too bad for Steve, whose wife poor dear Marta writes his posts, but probably he won't be conscious enough to care.
