After all she is head over heals for the obamamessiah. :-)

Oprah taking sides?
The queen of talk says it ain't so.
Winfrey reacted strongly Friday to a report posted on the Drudge Report that claimed she and "a couple of her top people were are adamantly" against booking newly minted Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin on her show.
"The item in today’s Drudge Report is categorically untrue," Winfrey said in a statement sent to news organizations in reaction to the DrudgeReport.com posting. "There has been absolutely no discussion about having Sarah Palin on my show. At the beginning of this presidential campaign when I decided that I was going to take my first public stance in support of a candidate, I made the decision not to use my show as a platform for any of the candidates. I agree that Sarah Palin would be a fantastic interview, and I would love to have her on after the campaign is over."
That said, Winfrey used her show to introduce Barack Obama to America's women voters, and has endorsed and campaigned with the Democratic nominee. She also was very visible at Obama's acceptance speech last week in Denver.
Winfrey's staff reportedly is sharply divided on booking Palin.
"Half of her staff really wants Sarah Palin on," a source told Drudge. "Oprah's Web site is getting tons of requests to put her on, but Oprah and a couple of her top people are adamantly against it because of Obama."Oprah last year blocked an appearance by Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, timed to a promotional tour of his autobiography.
The Drudge Report also cites Oprah and her executive producer Sheri Salata as big contributors to Obama's campaign.
-
Rush just said that it's good, we don't want her to be some type of celebrity. I agree. Just let her go out and campaign being herself.
.
-
Big surprise! I never liked Oprah. Always saw her for the racist, liberal hypocrite that she is and was.
-
I'm not sure what the big deal is about this. She's a private citizen. She's an entertainer, not a news network. She's never claimed to be anything but an Obama supporter.
It's probably a stupid business decision on her part, but it's her business. Based on its success it can probably absorb a stupid decision or two, here and there.
-
all of the posts on those articles are pretty damning of Oprah and her blatant hypocrisy. this is going to hurt her ratings right here at the beginning of her new season. 75% of the people polled on TMZ said she is biased.
wonder how Oprah will feel when her man cub gets absolutely smashed in this election?
-
Right you are, Terry, H5!

she may be a private citizen but she supports a man who wants to bring back the Fairness Doctrine and that would mean that Oprah would be forced to have conservatives on her show, since she already had Obama and Michelle on her show last year.
she may be able to absord a stupid decision here and there, but Sarah Palin has really electrified this election and her support is off the charts. if Oprah snubs Sarah, the audience of women who watch her wont forget that.

Oh thats gonna smart. :thatsright:

wILL She will have her(New VP) on in mid november ? :rotf:

Wonder if Ellen will ask Sarah Palin to be on her show?
The View has had both McCain and Obama on, and both wives have been co-hosts.
Hmmmm....wonder if they will have Tod Palin on to cohost? Lot of women salivating over his manly man cuteness. :-)

i dont watch the View, but apparently Elizabeth Hassleback yesterday stated that Michelle Obama had a long list of questions they could not ask her when she hosted their show.
Cindy McCain had no off limits questions when she hosted.

Oh of course, she can do whatever she wants. My statement was to the fact that as another private citizen she continues to validate my impression of her starting about 8 or 9 years ago or so.
-
I liked the 'happy to have her AFTER the campaign is over.' part... It is true she can decide what to do and not do with her show - that is her right. But this does seem to be a way of saying she has no intention of "helping" Sarah with an appearance-and some of her viewers will see it as such.
It seems to me that Oprah is of the same mindset as the rather famous women's group "NOW WAR" (National Organization for Women Who Aren't Republicans)- and that's her right.
-
If McCain-Palin win....what makes Oprah so sure that Sarah Palin will want to come on her show?
-
I remember in 2000 when George Bush was on the show and he gave Oprah a big kiss and I also remember when Algore jr. was on the show and he was stiffer than a guy suffering priapism after taking too many Viagras and he sat right down on the couch and Oprah whined "oh! I wanted a kiss!" But she never got one.

Dixie,
Didn't you mean "Bless her heart"? :-)
Also. go to the Opra.com (http://www.oprah.com/community/thread/87164;jsessionid=ac11067f30d803565fc68a3d4622aef8f75071b78075.e3qNbNuOaNmPe34Tch0Mc38NaNv0?start=0&tstart=0)community. She's getting lambasted.
-
^LOL! Nope. I only bring out both barrels when it's earned. Teh Okra deserves it. She's been getting on my last nerve for years.
God Bless 'em on oprah.com

I agree with Oprah 100%. No amount of Republican hate will change her mind. OPRAH IS RIGHT, she should not allow her show to be used be politicians in the middle of a campaign. If Ms. Wasilla does not want to be on the show once the election is over, she would have been exposed as an opportunist.
Liberals "debate and disagree" while Republicans "hate". Nope. No anger there...
-
Wow. 37 pages.
I ain't readin' all of it.

Aw c'mon cupcake! You don't like the 1 hour male hatefest she puts together every afternoon? :-) :bolt:

yup. and of course, Oprah is not a serious news journalist, but she has fashioned herself as a 'woman's woman' who cares about elevating ALL of us, not just liberals.
i think she has hurt her brand pretty significantly .. and the comments on her site, and all the articles about this the past 24 hours have been pretty scathing towards her. she has gotten to where she is because of monied white women, as well as monied black women. to be so blatant in her disregard over politics just shows how petty and partisan she really is.

well, it has meandered all over the place. when she first started, Sally Jesse Raphael was on opposite her - the original female Jerry Springer and Oprah was quite deep in the dregs of society being on her show.
she has tried to elevate her audience along with her by giving them cars and showing them how to shop for the finer things she has in her life. but in the end, she's really just a racist.
-
there's a blog by a woman who decided to "live Oprah" for a year. It's pretty hilarious. http://www.livingoprah.com/
Anyway, she basically got tired of hearing Teh Okra spout her new age B.S. and talk about how people need to "live their best life" blah, blah blah...all while she coos about her $1500 sheets and expensive soaps and encourages her audience to buy them.

i have been insulted at her 'living your best life' BS for a long time as well. does she think most of us arent already on that path? and i certainly dont look to a celebrity to tell me how to do it.
i honestly wouldnt trade places with her.. i have a fun family and kids to watch as I grow older and a man i know i can count on.
i wouldnt want to be alone at her age, staring at my golden years by myself.

Not to mention the fact that she already used it during campaigning to prop a candidate up over another or did I miss the part where she had Obama on a couple years ago prior to all this? hmmm

I tried to like her, I really did. I tried being a 'good female' and listening to her crap, but alas, that's all it was was crap and I don't suffer crap lightly.

she not only had him on her show for an hour, she invited all her super wealthy friends to her place in california to financially support his candidacy.
remember that story about people being asked to take their shoes off on her lawn? and then she stayed inside and didnt mingle? :-)

She took it for granted that her viewers would take her word on everything. Sorry, Oprah...a book or two in a 'book club' and hawking of your favorite nightstand and diet don't equate to the kind of serious stuff people really care about. I'm actually heartened that people who watch her have more depth and just were exploring banal interests via the show. I have a little more faith in my own gender seeing the comments on Oprah's site.
-
Greta Van Susteren on FOX just put a poll up asking "Is Oprah being honest about why she is not having Governor Palin on her show?"
Here's your screencap. :-)

Oprah has certainly cornered a certain upwardly mobile type of woman, but human beings are so much more diverse than even she is.. i think part of the anger comes from people realizing she really isnt any better or more enlightened than the masses.
she probably should have retired a couple of years ago at the heighth of her show - rather than having all this blowback about her personal opinions. she should have noticed that hollywood players who voice their political opinions as if they matter more than any other American typically get smacked down pretty hard and I dont care how much money she has, Oprah is no different than any other half wit hollywood celebrity.

Not use her show as a platform for any of the candidates??? Bullshit. What the hell was she going around with the Obamessiah for? That and having Obama and his less than fetching wife on her piss poor excuse for a show too but not Sarah Palin. Oh well... Sarah doesn't need Oprahlasism... she's doing just fine on her own.

hey we saw that !
and voted in it (me and the husband) there were literally less than 200 people who had voted less than five minutes ago.
-
its still ramping up with over 90% saying "no"
Total Votes: 33,674
wow... thats going fast. but greta did say she'd give the final count at the end of her show.

It may come as a surprise but Oprahs career as a journalist was a failure. Paul Harvey or someone did a bit on the radio about her and untill she switched to doing something other then the news she was a nobody.

yeah, she started out trying to be Barbra Walters, or Mary Tyler Moore's fictional character, Mary Richards. But it didnt go anywhere ... I dont begrudge her the money or her fame - I'm just glad her hypocrisy is on full display. Finally.
-
Oprah will be remembered as a hypocrit (like most libs).
A woman who spent decades empowering woman, turned her back to the two leading women who might have achieved the highest office in the country. Senator Clinton and now Governor Palin.
Bros before Ho's indeed.
I was never an Oprah fan and I will enjoy watching her downfall.
-
I think the media is getting the message that being mean to Sarah is very expensive stupidity.
-
The fact that Palin will not appear on Oprah's show proves what we suspected all along.
She isn't colored.
-
Oprah can change her mind. I am sure they can find one day out of the next 55 they can squeeze her in after all.

which is the funny part, Sarah Palin probably never gave it a thought. it was the Oprah Show that decided they were going to support Obama and no one else.
it was never supposed to be talked about in the public square though..
-
Oprah had her days. She is being replaced by people like Tyra.
-
a new list just came out of the "most generous' celebrities... Oprah tops the list
