A reason why I think the right is doing extra-heavy demonizing of schools and teachers now

It is not going to be too long before Trump himself is in the history books.

It should look like a fever dream. A child is going to read about history, look at the years 2016-2020, and ask "What happened here?"

But the right wants to deify Trump just like they did Reagan, to make it seem like the right choice, to not make those years look ugly.

A child is going to read about history, look at the years 2016-2020, and ask "What happened here?"
Who is going to answer that child?
What is the answer supposed to be?
Who gets to decide what appears in that history in the first place?
What is that history going to look like?

1. They are trying desperately to pull a Reagan Revolution out of a Watergate hat.

Like they did in around four years after Nixon.

The problem is, Fat Nixon's crimes were astronomical in number and magnitude and are generally known. Whereas, the biggest of Nixon's crimes were kept close hold. Also, they have no bench. Unless they're counting De... whatever.

So, to some extent I believe you are correct with all of the history cancelling going on.

2. Trump is already in the bottom 5 of POTUS's

According to all the surveys I’ve seen.

His term will be known for
COVID and his complete failure
January 6th
Horrible mismanagement and chaos within the White House

There’s nothing that’s going to change that no matter how much they stomp their feet and throw fits.

5. I'd say this is just a calculated divisive binary choice

Conservatives hate the teacher unions, always have. Not just because they are unions but because they were started by black teachers. I heard something about this from a caller in talk radio years ago. It was stated in a way that clearly showed this was some dark corner of conservatism dogma.

4. They are about to win on abortion

and needed to move to a new cultural issue to keep the fires hot.

And that's going to be race and sexuality. And combining it with "the children" is pitch perfect for them.

6. The goal is to privatize education.

Public money sent to private religious schools. Talk about indoctrination!

Or, to the extreme, parents must pay for their child's education.

9. This is a continuing agenda of the christofascists to install a christian theocracy in the US.

They have been working on this since the Reagan admin. The left seems to be the frog in the slowly boiling water.

11. It's worse than that!

It's about keeping a low wage work force
It's about forcing as many people to drop out of high school as possible

No school = No education
No education = Shitty job

13. It's In The Authoritarian Playbook

Dismantle public institutions & the public’s trust in them. That is the path to autocracy. “Ignorance is strength.” That way the ruling class is able maintain power and control by keeping the rest of the population ignorant. If citizens are ignorant of the truth, they cannot challenge the government or the decisions made by those in power.

Right? Kind of like this comment:

Nobody has done more to dismantle the reputation of public institutions than the public institutions themselves.

Wrong. The Authoritarian Playbook it to have children indoctrinated by government schools.

We are demonizing public schools because they suck six ways to Sunday.  Not just the invading wokism and indoctrination, but teaching kids how to take stupid tests so the schools can get fed money, schools overcrowded so teachers can't actually work with kids, teachers unable to fail students because it makes them and the school look bad, ect.  All this coming from a teacher who is married to a teacher, who got 3 kids through the school system so far, with one left in high school.
