For those who don't remember, back in 2018 Trump threatened to cancel the Air Force 1 replacement program because of costs. The Air Force and Boeing came to an agreement on a $3.9 billion fixed price contract (compared to Boeing's previous offer of around $4.4 billion on a cost-plus contract). Now Boeing has reported cost overruns on the project to the tune of around $660 million (which would have passed directly to taxpayers on a cost-plus contract). For the first time ever, DU is upset that a defense contractor might have to absorb a cost overrun. They would be praising any other president for saving taxpayers so much money, but it's Trump so bring on the negative spin.

Boeing lost $600 million by agreeing to Trump's demands for a new Air Force 1 jet!
Well, I bet they can write off their taxes?
Trump gave them an easy way out to file their taxes with that massive tax cut he gave big businesses!
Trump didn't invent the tax code related to business losses. Apparently, this DUmmy would be happier if taxpayers paid for the whole overrun.

1. ETTD.
No exceptions universal rule. Boeing will survive with a flesh wound…but what a bunch of maroons.
ETTD = Everything Trump touches dies. Trump saved taxpayers a bunch of money. Not sure MontanaMama understands the concept.

5. OK! I figured the Trump administration might have used the 737-MAX issues with the NTSB to
leverage Boeing on a "Art of the Deal" type PR opportunity for Trump.
Nope not PR, actual cost avoidance which is almost unheard of in this type of procurement.
This thread died fast because the more intelligent DUer's realize that saving 2/3 of a billion dollars is actually a good thing.

Boeing's CEO on Wednesday called the unusual deal his predecessor negotiated with then-President Donald Trump for the next generation of Air Force One a one-off that he hopes not to repeat.
Hey Boeing, next time just negotiate with Mr. Haney from Green Acres fame. You will get a better deal.
Trump is so crafty he ripped off Boeing. What a bad, bad man taking advantage of a poor helpless multi-billion dollar defense contractor.

3. They got hosed by the Shart of the Deal man
Trump is so stupid that he helped negotiate a huge cost savings. What a horrible guy.
This thread died faster. Apparently, DU is actually not a fan of defense spending cuts. Based on their reaction to this news they seem really disappointed that we're not just writing a blank check to Boeing.

Geeeeeee ... how many defense projects did Lib get cancelled or try to cancel due to cost overruns? When Libs and Progs do it, it's good, but when Bogey-TRUMP does it, it's EEEEEeeeeee-vile! ::) :rotf:

Moonbats think government overspending is a good thing. Of course they are upset at anyone, especially Evil Orange Man, cutting government costs.

OK Dummies. If you are going to buy a car for 40,000 and by wheeling and dealing you get the cost down to 25,000. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? Do you really care how much the dealership or manufacturer losses on the deal when you're able to keep an additional 15,000 in the bank?

Not enough information. Is this a Subaru dealership we are talking about? :cheersmate:

Not enough virtue signalling involved, buying from a Subaru dealership. Better be a Smart Car dealership, or even better a Jiangsu (ChiCom made hybrids) dealership owned by a vegan, melanin-abundant trans-"womyn".
