There's an old dental school joke:
During the AIDS crisis, when glove wearing became the norm, there were individuals who began to protest excessive sterilization procedures for instruments and handpieces which the patient’s mouth. In addition to these requirements, it was obvious to anyone who knew anything about anything that the dental burs which are used, (those grinding instruments made of steel or Carborundum) needed to be sterilized as well. The problem with sterilizing them, at least in those days, was that it would dull them instantly and render them useless for multiple procedures for which they were originally intended.
So of course there was resistance to this because of the expense, and one humorist posited that you could make the case that any microorganism which could survive when pressed against enamel, the hardest material in the human body, at a rate of 500,000 revolutions per minute probably has more of a right to live than the human does. This of course was meant to be funny.
My rhetorical question now is do we humans actually have the right to survive? I mean what have we done to the planet, the environment, each other, other countries, other races, other religions, and quite frankly every other you can imagine? Perhaps it would just be better for us to call it quits and leave all this to the cockroaches.
I need to get back to work, dig some holes, and fill them….
What is this DUmmie on about?
I thought DUmmies were all about Darwinism, evolution etc.,, and if that is their beliefs, they have to believe we will evolve to survive in whatever environment exists... or we won't and will go extinct.
DUmmies, what are you so afraid of? Seriously? Evolution has your answer for the species, and Atheism has the answer for you individually. -Nothing- No punishment, no reward... just nothing.
In either case, why would you have an existential crisis?
