Rep. Raskin: Jan. 6th Report Will Be 'Agonizing And Riveting'
https://crooksandliars.com/2022/04/rep-raskin-jan-6th-report-will-be

"This isn't like an Agatha Christie novel here. We know whodunnit," he told Chris Hayes.
By Susie Madrak — April 18, 2022

Rep. Jamie Raskin spoke to Chris Hayes about the work of the Jan. 6th committee, and promised an "agonizing and riveting" tale that will come out in the public hearings.

"It seems a lot of people very close to the president have cooperated with the committee, giving testimony," Hayes said.

"Nobody wants to get left behind because the truth is coming out in the way that it's supposed to in a democracy, and it's kind of the way you journalists operate, saying we'll have everyone else speaking to us, but not you unless you decide to come forward. No one wants to get left on the dock," Raskin said.

"But the truth is, the whole country now knows the basic outline of the story. We don't know exactly when every single person was doing at every moment, but we know there was one line of attack which was a violent insurrection, unprecedented in our history, injuring, wounding and hospitalizing more than 150 of our police officers and interrupting the peaceful transfer of power for the first time in American history."

Raskin talked about a "self coup," which is what political scientists call it when a president tries to overturn the constitutional process during an election.

He also promised, "We're gonna lay out everything we see, but we want people to understand this isn't just like an Agatha Christie novel here. We know who done it. It's a question of going forward, how do we get ourselves fortified democratic institutions and processes against coups and insurrections and subversion in the future."

He said there are "lots" of characters who are not yet known to the public who were involved in this.

"There were a number of heroes who surfaced throughout this process, and we want to make sure we're profiling them as well as the villains of this story. But it's very important to know how it was done as well as whodunnit.

"And that's what the citizens inside the world's greatest multiracial, multi-religious, multicultural constitutional democracy need to know, what are the weaknesses that these reactionary alt-right neo-fascist forces conspire to take advantage of.

"Because they did, and it will be both agonizing and riveting for the country to see how close we came to losing it all. And it's as close to fascism in my lifetime and we need people to understand what the weaknesses were, and how we're going to seal up the weaknesses so we can move forward on the pressing issues of our time, like climate change, which is bearing down on everybody."

1. Good to hear that it will be riveting.

BUT, they are waiting until the time of year that everyone is outside planting gardens, doing house repairs, spring cleaning, hosting pool parties (in warmer areas) and generally having fun after being cooped up all winter.

Won’t viewership be diminished? I hope the message hits the mark as they intend!

3. Get it on prime time TV.

And I mean ABC, CBS, and NBC.
Preempt the soap operas and Wheel of Fortune.
Make all Murcans pay attention
We know Fox wont even cover it.

11. The "Watergate" hearings ran from May 17th to June 27th 1974 and people were glued to their.....

....television screens back then. I have hope that no matter when the committee starts releasing the details of this new criminal conspiracy that we will again sit up and take notice.

5. Rather than a bunch of hype, howsabout just releasing a report with hard evidence.

8. ....75,000,000 voters will reject it out of hand.

They don't care about facts or evidence.

They have their racist messiah and goddammit they ARE GOING TO FOLLOW HIM!

9. These hearings really deserve to have a Hollywood style trailer

You know, “ In a world where democracy is on the brink, only a ragtag group of bipartisan patriots can save America from fascism”

But in the meantime, Raskin’s preview will do just fine.

13. We don't need riveting, we need bombshells.

Indisputable bombshells.

Wake me up when Trump has been indicted.

19. I don't need to be riveted. Facts will do.

Though, this has gone on for so long, I'm starting to get George RR Martin vibes.

And after the Mueller deflation, I don't think we need hype.

Just lay out the facts. If they are what most of us think they are, they will be their own hype.

I love how they pin all their hopes on a nothingburger.

Inflation.
Gas prices.
Food prices.
Biden’s incompetence in everything.

That’s the issues that matter.

And ain’t anything the primitives can do but watch.

I thought Biden got 8.5 million votes?

10. The media will cover it until....

the next shiny thing comes along, and it'll all be forgotten.

That's how jaded I've become with the "liberal" media

More like until they find some new wokism scare to distract YOU guys from the fact that the carrot being dangled in front of you is nothing.  You are not being played like a fiddle, but like the cheap kazoo y'all are.

Agonizing, riveting, and positively orgasmic for the 0.1% of lib-tards who actually think January 6th was anything relevant to the world and "DEMOCRACY".

The problem with releasing a report with hard evidence is that the heard evidence would have to exist, which means that the alleged criminality would have to have taken place. As it didn't taken place, there can't be hard evidence of it, therefore all that's left is hype, smoke-screens, and out right lies from the left.

I don't know anybody who thinks about this, let alone talks about it.  Let alone planning to glue themselves to a TV to watch an obviously partisan shitshow circlejerk.  They're too busy trying to figure out how to make ends meet.  And yeah, in June, there are much more fun things to do.

The chatter I've seen on FB from my FB Friends - many of whom are liberal - has been family-household stuff and running events (at least 4 from my corner of the running community ran the Boston Marathon yesterday). IOW, whatever their view of 1/6, Pelosiroo's Kangaroo Kourt Kommittee isn't garnering much interest.

As for the Kommittee's "report" it will be shredded with facts at a rate of 100-200 report pages per day. IOW, it will be a laughingstock within a few weeks, if not sooner, depending on its length and the shredders' coffee consumption. If it's deceptions and cover-ups are gross enough, some MSM-folk may be among those shredding the Kommittee's "report" (though probably not the earliest).

I expect the committee report to end with Liz and Adam in a spotlight dance as the house lights come up.

Then they will head off out of town towing their U-hauls.   :whatever:
