I was at Urgent Care yesterday morning with my husband.

(Don't worry, husband is fine, just a minor gardening mishap).
While I was in the waiting room, a guy pulls up in a fairly new, huge, fancy crew-cab pickup truck.
Comes in with a real aggressive attitude, I'd guess he's probably in his mid to late thirties. Not wearing a mask, as is required in the Urgent Care clinic.
He's asked if he has an appointment (you can schedule online, ahead of time).
"No," he bites out.
"Would you like to register on our kiosk?"
"NO! I want to do it on paper!"
So they give him a clipboard with several forms to fill out (which they will then need to type into the computer, so the information goes to the same place, so what's the advantage of the paper forms?).
"While you are filling out your paperwork, can I get your insurance card?"
"I'm uninsured," he snarls back.
When he was quoted the price to be seen, he says, "Well, I want to call [other Urgent Care provider] first."
So he sits down in the waiting room and does some comparative shopping, then finally sighs as if he's being so put-upon and says, "OK, lets do this."
So, let's review:
Young, seemingly able-bodied man, with enough money for a fancy, huge pickup truck, is not insured (illegal), but complains about out-of-pocket medical costs, creates extra, unnecessary work for the office staff, and acts like he's the victim, somehow.
This is why I hate most of my fellow citizens.
On edit: I did not know the requirement to have health insurance had changed. I apologize for my error. The guy was still an idiotic jerk.
A couple of questions...
How'd you see his truck from the waiting room?
How'd you hear his side of the conversation?
How is this guy not a Dem?

2. Here's what I see.
They gave him a choice whether to fill it out at the kiosk or on paper, and he made a choice.
It's not illegal to not have health insurance.
Was it his truck?
And honestly, I complain about comparison-shopping and out-of-pocket costs, and I have good health insurance!

Oh but you left out the best part! How much do you wanna bet that this was the guy that loves all the Republicans who have always been against Obamacare??!

37. Yes, in addition to his other annoying attributes
is the fact that people like him--who likely vote either puke or not at all--are the reason we are in the grip of the current health"care" system. St. Ronnie started the for-profit model.

21. Perhaps, the main thing that is worth hating is that the US has not gone to universal healthcare.
Much of what you decried could simply be avoided if healthcare were a right (as it should be) in the US.
The ACA is just not sufficient.

30. A Question or two
I thought folks who could not afford health insurance qualified for medicaid? The majority of folks who own the big trucks do not need/use them for their work? Many just use them to haul flags supporting the previous president! Also, know a fellow who said he could not afford health insurance and was frequently posting pictures of the fancy boats he owned. I explained to him, he chose not to buy health insurance it was not a question of affordability.

Obummercare would disagree with you on that.

My, my, so much manipulative tendentious language:
fairly new, huge, fancy crew-cab pickup truck

"No," he bites out.
"NO! I want to do it on paper!"
he snarls back
then finally sighs as if he's being so put-upon
Loaded language, all of it Coventina's perceptions.
Picking on a few lowlights ... is there such a thing as a small crew cab pickup truck? And not only did she see his vehicle while sitting in the reception area, she saw it was "fancy", even though the door only opened briefly while he got out, during which time his body largely blocked all view of the interior? How exactly does she know he said "NO!", not simply "No." As to his action on hearing the other clinic's response, should he have said, "Oh goody! I get to pay out $#00 dollars I don't have to take care of ______!"
I won't insult female dogs in describing what kind of jerk Coventina showed herself to be in that DU-thread.

And I'll bet the new fancy pickup wasn't an electric Rivian either!!! :whatever:

Which amendment to the Constitution is it that entitles you to the fruits of somebody else's labor again, DUmbass? (Must be the clause of the 13th Amendment that causes my eyes to start rolling whenever I read thru it...) :whatever:

so, she does still live with Kevin:

that is a townhouse or condo, they live in unit D, wonder what yard work he was doing there??? Thomasina is always on about something or another, she probably made the whole thing up or he was there for a cold.

Lack of insurance among the young isn't a Right or Left thing. Unless they have kids, most of them just don't buy it because they feel bulletproof at that age.

Doesn't look like there's any yard there to need yard work. I think a more appropriate address for her would be the NE corner of 24th St. & Van Buren. As for her :bouncy: , it's obviously largely fictional. As best I can tell from GoogMaps Satellite View, the parking for Scottsdale Urgent Care on N. Civic Center Plaza has little or no parking that could be seen from the reception area. So the part of the :bouncy: about the "huge, fancy crew-cab pickup truck" is 80%-100% fiction (she might have seen such a truck briefly as it drove past the facility from the street to a parking space).

I thought folks who could not afford health insurance qualified for medicaid?
My God, how stupid are you? There are vast swaths of people in this country who cannot afford a $700+ monthly premium for the privilege of paying a $13,000 deductible. These people are called the middle class. They do not qualify for Medicaid because they make more than $20,000 per year. DUmbass.
Not to mention the states that did not adopt Medicaid expansion.
I saw that thread yesterday and I laughed at the post trying to be snarky about spelling, containing a spelling error.
