Has there been any report of Ukraine considering using the Latin alphabet instead of Cyrillic?
as a move away from Russian influence? They already use the letter 'i' which is not found in cyrillic.
Serbia uses both Latin and Cyrillic alphabets.

1. Seems far beyond unlikely.
Would we suddenly switch to kanji because we like Japanese cars?
:whatever:

That question highlights for me one of the many shortcomings of DU, specifically that it's frowned upon there to call a post the dumbest ****ing thing anyone will read all day.
But that is the dumbest thing anyone will read all day on DU, which is quite a competition in any case.

:thatsright: Saints Cyril and Methodius, who created the Cyrillic Alphabet ("Cyril", "Cyrillic", get it, DU onlurkers?), most likely were Greek, or possibly non-Russian Slavs. They were born in Thessaloniki, which is part of modern Greece, in the Byzantine Empire.
:thatsright: They created that alphabet in their missionary work in Great Moravia, which included parts of the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Austria, Germany, Poland, Romania, Serbia, and Ukraine (a further clue for DU onlurkers, notice which modern country was part of that territory and which is not?).
