a Reverse Rittenhouse? Prosecutors dropping Case Against Security Guard Who killed rightwinger

Prosecutors Are Dropping Their Murder Case Against Security Guard Who Shot and Killed Conservative Demonstrator

Prosecutors in Denver, Colorado, are dropping their second-degree murder case against the unlicensed security guard who shot and killed a conservative demonstrator during dueling right- and left-leaning protests.

The attorney for defendant Matthew Dolloff, 32, said that prosecutors told him they plan to dismiss the case at a trial pre-trial conference set for March 21, according to The Denver Post.

“I’m just really happy for Matt and his family that the DA finally realized what we’d known all along,” Doug Richards said.

The family of Lee Keltner, 49, did not comment to the outlet.

The shooting happened amid dueling demonstrations on Oct. 10, 2020: a “Patriot Rally” and a “BLM-Antifa Soup Drive.” The Denver Post said that one of their photographers captured the confrontation. Keltner told a news producer for KUSA to put a camera away and said he was going to “[censored] him up.” Dolloff, who was providing security for KUSA that day, stepped between Keltner and the journalist. Keltner was holding a can of bear spray, and slapped Dolloff in the face. Dolloff pulled out a gun and shot Keltner, who was activating the bear spray.

I don't see the two as comparable. Rittenhouse was bludgeoned by a heavy object by one person, had a firearm pointed at him by second, and was rushed by a third trying to take his gun away threatening to kill him, all as part of a running assault while he was trying to extricate himself from the area.

This guy delivered an open-handed slap to someone and deployed pepper spray. I don't think it required deadly force. Apparently, Denver prosecutors felt differently.

One more glaring difference is that Rittenhouse was arrested and tried with the evidence presented to a jury.

Justice was served. That Nazi got what he deserved. One less scumbag in the streets.

4. Well. About 10000 more and that's a good start.

Maybe they won’t be so quick with the bear spray.

PANTYFA is not hesitant at all to spray down their detractors in the streets, including women, children, and the elderly as well as inflict much more serious assaults against unarmed people.

I guess that means they can be shot down now when they break out the bear spray.

A "reverse Rittenhouse'?

The cases have nothing to do with one another except in the most superficial way.

In Rittenhouse's case, a DA made a political decision (IMO, of course) to prosecute an unwinnable case, and the jury acquitted Rittenhouse based on the evidence that showed he acted proportionally in self-defense.

In Dolloff's case, a DA made a political decision (IMO, of course) to not to prosecute. No jury will get to decide, based on evidence, whether shooting a firearm was a proportional response to "activating" (what does that mean? pulling the can out of his jacket pocket? removing a safety pin or device?) bear spray.

The cases are not at all analogous.

Agreed. I suspect the only reason they're bringing up Rittenhouse is because they feel like they need to get even for that verdict.

A "reverse Rittenhouse" is where loony lefties don't assault him so he doesn't have to waste ammo on them.

A true "Reverse Rittenhouse" would have been the DA INSTEAD prosecuting the now semi-unarmed-man and others who were assaulting and attempting to kill Rittenhouse.
