I tried to research this but am unable to find anything, not even a discussion of the possibility.

Is it because of the nuclear threat?

Edited to add, during the Korean conflict, The US pushed the police action thru the security council, The USSR voted for it, as did China, but that China is now Taiwan.

2. Because UN peacekeeping forces require

a UN Security Council resolution to deploy.

Any of the five permanent members of the council can veto a resolution.

Russia is one of the five permanent members.

7. As said. They also don't keep a standing reserve and have

to build the military basically from scratch each time. I have no idea of their potential but am sure they've never operated on the scale that would be needed.

 :thatsright: The "UN" force in the Korean War was not a "peacekeeping force". The Blue Helmets are wherever they are to supervise a truce or peace treaty. Not to engage in fighting. Examples of Blue Helmet fails:

* In the run-up to the Six Day War, the Blue Helmets knew Egypt was prepping for war, and skedaddled from the Gaza Strip;

* In Rwanda's slaughter of the Hutu, Blue Helmets were directly ordered not to intervene or to shelter Hutu.

The Blue Helmets were not equipped to be meaningful interveners prior to the Six Day War. Getting out was the correct thing to do, and Israel, ummmmm, took care of Egypt's, Jordan's, and Syria's coordinated massed forces. OTOH, in Rwanda, the Tutsi slaughterers were largely armed with things like axes and clubs. IMO, the Blue Helmets could have done more in Rwanda (though I obviously am not omniscient, and wasn't there).

Then there's the Blue Helmets and UN bureaucrats who use their positions of power to inflict their sexual perversions on the people they are supposedly protecting and aiding. And do so with relative impunity.

Once the fighting and danger is over, I'm sure the Blue Helmets would love to go to Ukraine and rape all the women they see. That is the one thing Blue Helmets are capable of doing but little else.

It's kind of telling that DUpipo are unaware of Blue Helmets' record of rape and sexual assault. Or maybe they do know and are fine with Blue Helmet rapists.

To be fair, they are ok with their elected officials doing it too
