US Sanctions on Russia to have little effect...
And as I suspected... with Xi's comments today, they're backing Putin and might just escalate the situation with pressure on Taiwan.

The Russian government has spent years trying to reconfigure its budget and finances so that it can withstand further sanctions, efforts that have been aided by high market prices for oil and gas. It has relatively low debt and relies less on loans from foreign entities than it did before 2014. Most importantly, the central bank has accumulated foreign currency reserves of $631 billion, the fourth-largest such reserve in the world.
Some important Russian state-owned enterprises and private companies have actually benefited from U.S. sanctions. Kremlin policies aimed at replacing Western imports with Russian and non-Western products wind up raising the profits of those businesses. And some of Mr. Putin’s allies and their families have done well under the initiatives. One example is Dmitry Patrushev, the minister of agriculture, whose family has become wealthier from new agriculture industry policies, Mr. Gabuev said.
President Xi Jinping of China, who has been strengthening his nation’s ties with Russia, could help Mr. Putin get around some of the sanctions or bolster Russia’s economy with greater energy purchases. When the two leaders met in Beijing at the start of the Winter Olympics, their governments announced a 30-year contract in which China would purchase gas through a new pipeline running across Siberia. Chinese companies might also be able to fill some of the supply chain gaps created by a stoppage in certain U.S. technology exports to Russia, though those companies are unable to replicate more advanced American products.

4. People really don't seem to know much about Russia.
It has one the largest oil reserves in the world. No end of natural gas. It has more minerals -- that manufacturers need -- than any other country. It exports food products including grain. There is a reason sanctions don't mean much to them. Especially since powers like China, India, Japan and Brazil will ignore them anyway.

Info like this is very easily researched and learned, but it seems the primitives are more interested in circling the wagons and trying to convince themselves that “Putin=Trump=GOP” is both believable and a winning political campaign. And yet some of their own are still trying to talk them off the ledge.
Gonna be fun to watch them crash and burn.

GASP! You can't do your OWN RESEARCH!!! You have to leave that to 'experts', don't you know that?
By the way, I had a pastor one time who gave the definition of an expert and it was the most spot on thing I'd ever heard; An expert is someone who knows more and more about less and less until pretty soon they know everything about nothing!

So here's my question: if Trump and putin are BFF, why didn't he invade Ukraine while Trump was in office when he would have had the full backing of an American president?

A recent interview that Michael Goodwin did with President Trump...
There are other stories making the rounds, too, and they are even more provocative. One has it that Trump — noting that Putin seized land from Georgia when George W. Bush was president and seized the Crimean peninsula when Barack Obama was president — warned Putin against a land grab on his watch.
“If you move against Ukraine while I’m president,” Trump is said to have told the Russian leader, “I will hit Moscow.”
Putin reportedly scoffed, “No way,” leading Trump to say, “All those beautiful golden turrets will be blown up.”
A similar story involves Chinese President Xi Jinping. It was during his visit to Mar-a-Lago in 2017 when Trump famously interrupted their chocolate cake dessert to declare he had just ordered the US military to fire 59 Tomahawk cruise missiles at a Syrian air base after the Syrian government used chemical weapons against rebels and civilians.
During that same visit, Trump reportedly told Xi that any military move against Taiwan would be met with an attack on Beijing. Xi, like Putin, is said to have been stunned, though it is possible neither man believed Trump was serious. While it is also possible that both accounts are exaggerated, it is a fact that neither man made the moves Trump is said to have warned against.

unlike brandon who waves the threat of sanctions if an invasion is made, Trump waved the threat of total retailation which both Putin and xi took to heart.

It's so funny to watch these dimwits trying to convince themselves and others that conservatives love Putin. That's not even close to being the case and never has been. He's everything we hate, and we hate him in the same manner we hate the authoritarians in the Democratic party and the Trudeau's of the world.
Russia and China know our politicians and which are weak and which aren't. They know when Dems are in office and in control, the US response to any of their aggression will be to make a bunch of noise and sit on their hands. And we as conservatives know and have known that to be the case. But that in no way translates into "conservatives like Putin." Quite the opposite. It simply means we recognize that when America shows weakness, as we do with Biden, and as we did with Obama, Clinton, and Carter, that these countries will take advantage of that leaders weakness.
So keep saying it, primitives. You're just digging your own graves.
