As rogue truckers threaten to blockade major cities with their rigs, I'm wondering if there is such
an offense as "willful endangerment of public health" or something similar.
These blockades will stop firemen, police, ambulances and moms-to-be on their way to the hospital.
Really interesting thread, but wanted to bring this over.

36. because when they have that level of #'s and they're critical for the workings of the nation...
...they have a lot of leverage. There's not enough jail space to arrest them all, and the exact kinds of people and equipment you need to move trucks, well, you'd get them from trucking companies. Compounding the matter, there was already a shortage of qualified drivers before the protest and the industry is thoroughly regulated, so there aren't any scabs to hire.
The earlier reports about this being a fringe group--while they were certainly the most accurate numbers possible for accredited journalists to obtain--with hindsight we can see just weren't very accurate.
I'm thankful the average journalist isn't in charge of game-planning the response because their ideas have been idiotic. The truckers are coordinating at a level that indicates either they're ****ing brilliant, or they have some form of military backing. They've avoided being baited to violence several times already and have smart counter-operations to the police. Last night the cops went in to begin arrests and the crowd simply started singing the national anthem and took all the momentum out of it. Prior to that they had the jerry can congo line to counter the gas confiscation policies. They're winning hearts on the ground by cleaning the streets and public facilities, and the judge stopping the honking pretty much gave the city an own-goal because it was the thing most bothering residents.
The best strategy at this point is to pivot and give in. The sooner it's done the more effective it would be. But we won't do that. We'll continue to push the mandates in lunk-headed ways, harrass the truckers, and cause their numbers to grow. I have no clue why, but it's obviously what the government has mentally committed to.

3. If it goes on long enough
lots of folks will lose paychecks and get behind on bills due to plant shutdowns.
When this happens the pitchforks come out and the so called truckers feel the wrath of the blue collar worker.
Truckers are 'the blue collar worker'.

I'd take this more seriously if Flatus and other fellow DU-folk had condemned the BLM riots and "autonomous zones" for this, among other problems.

Proggies pushed the wrong people way too far.
There's not enough jail space to arrest them all
It's not just BLM rioters pushing LE resources.

Useful skills are not common among bureaucrats, :rotf: .

Well, the numbers were inaccurate, but probably because of "journalists"' intentional deception, trying to minimize what they hoped would go away.
I'm thankful the average journalist isn't in charge of game-planning the response because their ideas have been idiotic.
Yes, they are "journalists", :rotf: . Not people with experience in real life outside of their bubbles.

So close to acknowledging reality, but had to go into CT-Land.
They've avoided being baited to violence several times already ...
An interesting admission. The government tried to bait citizens into acts of violence.
They're winning hearts on the ground by cleaning the streets and public facilities ...
Doing useful things the city isn't? The noive!!!

The smart move would have been to pay attention to the numbers, recognize several weeks ago that cases had peaked, and the cases-deaths ratio was far less awful than a year ago, and back off on the mandates BEFORE the truckers and the Canadian people in general were POed enough to take this drastic action.

A lot of talk there of having government jackbooted thugs damage or destroy ttucks and truckerd. IOW fascism as usual.

DU-folk readily reveal their inner ugly when they aren't getting their way.
-
If it is the majority of truckers protesting then they aren't "rogue truckers"

Yet in several threads over these many years, you spout your hate for the police. Get your story straight, please.

Can you imagine the outrage if a trucker got up on stage and talked about dreams of blowing up Parliament?
But the DUmmies didn't bat an eye when Madonna talked about blowing up The WH at the p-hat protest.

YEP. Scratch a democrat, find a fascist.
