Beijing 2022 Olympics: Belgian Skeleton Star Cries at Continued Isolation
My first reaction when I read this -- she forgot her blankie at home.
Belgian skeleton star Kim Meylemans updated on Feb. 3 that after the IOC’s involvement, she was finally given a room at the Beijing Olympic Village.
The 25-year-old cried on social media on Feb. 2 as she explained that she was in an isolation facility after being quarantined for three days despite a number of negative COVID-19 tests, and worried that she couldn’t participate in the competition.
I am now in a wing that is just as isolated but at least I’m back in the village. I feel safe and I will be able to train a little better here so thank you all,” Meylemans said in an Instagram video on Feb. 3.
Currently, Meylemans lives in a single room at the Olympic Village as a close contact of a COVID-19 patient, where she can train but has to take the transportation alone, and eat alone.
More at the link, if you can stomach it.

Welcome to Xi's China, where his No-Covid policy has kept the level of resistance/immunity to Covid in China lower than it should be.
I "get" athletic ambition and that the Olympics are considered a pinnacle of achievement, but I think world-class athletes should have foregone Xi's Olympics ... which are akin to Hitler's, except that Xi's genocide is more advanced and better known to the world.

xi's no covid policy is about 2 1/2 years too late

Actually, it's been his policy since some time in January or February 2020. Total shutdowns - really total, not the much more lax measures done in the US and EuroLand - stop an outbreak (until the next outbreak), but very much slow the build-up of resistance in an area's population, consequently making the population vulnerable much longer than it otherwise would.

Hmmm. Kinda thought the business about "crying" was the central theme of the OP, but hell, I'm not above waltzing down a different path once in a while :-)
IIRC, the 2020 Summer Games in Tokyo were an unmitigated disaster from an attendance and financial viewpoint. Of course, the ChiCom virus had a lot to do with that, but it would seem that people just aren't interested in athletes - some, anyway - who are more leftist activist than athlete. Gwen whats-her-face comes to mind.
Maybe the IOC should pay attention to some of that.
