You'll note that the ones who Stalin had airbrushed out weren't his OPPONENTS per se, but those in his ALLIES/ CHEERING SECTION that had outlived their usefulness to The Boss.

In fact, I can see that pattern repeated in just about any leftist regime you'd care to name. Being entirely populated with ego-driven incompetents, it could hardly be any other way.
