A couple of towns in southern Minnesota got hit by tornados
earlier this week. It was the first time tornados were ever reported in Minnesota in December. Nobody died, but there was property damage. Shocking, but it was not comparable to the Kentucky tornado that went through three states. Tornados there in December are also almost unheard of.
Climate change, pure and simple. This week's storm extended from Minnesota clear down to Texas. It cause a good deal of damage, but again not as bad as the earlier F-4 tornado.
The Governor of Kentucky, in his initial press conference, thanked President Biden profusely and before thanking anyone else. He barely mentioned Mitch McConnel in his thank you statements. I get the feeling that the whole climate change thing hit home in a personal way for the Governor.
President Biden. Compare his response to a disaster in a state that did not support him in 2020 to TFG's responses to natural disasters during his calamitous term in office. Trump shrugged off disasters in states that didn't support his election and responded to states that did. He was President, in his own mind, only for states that helped to elect him. All others got nothing from him.
That is the difference between Democrats and Republicans in a nutshell. It should be a campaign issue in 2022 and 2024. Who shows up in times of disaster? For Republicans, that depends on whether your state votes for Republicans or not. For Democrats, disasters are disasters, wherever they occur, and we help, regardless of politics.
Democrats understand the threat of climate change. Democrats understand the threat of global pandemics. Republicans only understand politics. Like Ted Cruz, when the shit hits the fan, Republicans fly to Cancun, where it's not flooded or frozen. Democrats show up to help.
We should point all of that out during every election. It might help.

I have always heard the DU folk tell us that you couldn’t use regional weather to dispute climate change. Why are they allowed to use it to try to prove climate change?

And for how many years are there fairly comprehensive weather records for the State of Minnesota? As long as a mere 2 centuries?

When I saw that no tornadoes had been recorded in Minnesota, it struck me as perhaps a lie by telling part of the truth. :whatever:
