I refuse to put on winter tires because:
It’s my car, my choice, my freedom.
The effectiveness of winter tires is not proven, except by studies carried out by the manufacturers (surprising eh!?!).
My neighbor Sylvia had an accident after putting on her winter tires.
Some are already on their third set of tires, which proves their ineffectiveness.
Do we really know what they are made of?
The tire giants scare us with winter just to enrich themselves.
In fact, the tire giants invented snow and spread it at night when you sleep.
If I have tires, the government can track me in the snow.
Educate yourself, open your eyes, stop being sheep!
This year, winter tires, I say no!
Take it a step further;
Now the government mandates that EVERYONE have winter tires. I live in the south. I see snow once every 10 years and that is usually a dusting.
What if I like to use chains for my snow season in the midwest and my snow season is done so I took mine off and won't need them for another 11 months? But the government doesn't recognize my chains as an effective 'winter tire.'
The government says I have to have them! What?! Why?? I don't need them, I've already had MY winter! What do you mean I can't go to work in Houston unless I have winter tires on my car from November to March?

Dems/libs/progs want a gov't that mandates when they can get up in the morning, how many steps they must take to go to the bathroom, how long they have to urinate, what they must wear as clothing, what they must eat, where they must work and for how long, etc.... They are authoritarians who love being told what to do, and they want to impose that on everyone.
And if they want to try, they have another thing coming.

Um, how many people die in car accidents vs. COVID?

If you have winter tires, what is your problem?

I believe this OP is making some kind of comparison between the conservative response to vaccines and people refusing to use winter tires for their safety. Poor attempt at sarcasm.

and there's no mandate to have snow tires, Soozin:

might be a good idea of you live in Rudolf, WI but not in Florida.

Wait, does this chick live in Florida?
Off topic, it’s always amazing to me which states don’t automatically get capitalized when you text them. Y’all should try a few states sometime …

Someone things I give a single damn if they get stuck in the snow.
If I see you stuck on the side of the road and you have a mask on, I'm driving right on past too... well, unless you're old. I couldn't do that, no matter how hateful and stupid you are, DUmpass.

She's in her mid-60s. If you call that "old" I'll whack you with my walker! :-)

It was a horrid analogy. But a participation bong for this random DUmmy: :stoner:

I live one hour north of this simpleton. I ride on Goodyear all-season radials. I get new ones when the old ones wear out. I don't change tires to match the seasons of the year and I've never gone in the ditch.
Let's go Brandon!

I've actually been "whacked with a walker", several times. Well, it was a walking cane. It was unpleasant and I have no desire to repeat it.
Great Grandma could get ornery if we didn't listen to her.

I also have an SUV.
Let me guess: You object.

I just have all season tires on and drive responsibly.

:rotf: In a county that's ~95% white, her village is ~98% white. :rotf: My neighborhood, within a half mile radius, may have more non-whites than her village. :rotf:
The thing about snow, if your area gets enough snow to make it appropriate to use snow tires, you get snow reliably, every year. OTOH, being exposed to Covid happens randomly, and actually rather rarely (except for people who work with lots of different people, e.g. some healthcare and retail). Using my family as an example, while SAR-CoV-2 was circulating in the US in November 2019, it wasn't until January 2021 that we were exposed to the virus, except for one family member who happened to be house-sitting at that time. As far as I KNOW, I have not been exposed since, despite having returned to work in February and walked in 8 in-person events since July, with, cumulatively, 2000-3000 different runners and walkers (plus even more volunteers).
Like I said above, a good analogy is analogous. Predictable seasonal weather is not analogous to random - possibly never - exposure to a virus. I have been vaccinated, because I chose to. Unlike DU-grade Proggies, it does not bother me that other people choose differently than I do. I oppose vax mandates, and knew that if tried they would fail, as they are.
